Usyk fought a boxer, not a dog. One of the best boxers in his division, actually.
That is a mere fact. 98% of people's picks are mere presumtions.
    See the difference?

Even by knockout (in Breidis's case) considering Wilder was getting out-boxed and losing rounds to an inferior southpaw compared to Usyk in Artur Szpilka who is also a natural looking cruiser weight. And Breidis is a very powerful puncher at heavyweight and I doubt Wilder's chin improved much from his amateur days. He's been stunned badly by lesser boxers and dropped by Harold Sconiers.

If Szpilka can win rounds against Wilder, out-box him and last 10 rounds. Usyk can do even better! And if Evgeny Romanov possesses the punching power to KO Wilder in the amateurs. Then so does Briedis!
With Wilders small am career you cant take much out of it and he was just a novice am for most part 25 fights. And I think it was A Booth who just said in a interview he saw Wilder spar with Haye and showed very good chin and he has no reason to lie.And I don't see either being able to take Wilders shots and BOTH even Usyk are not deff masters. And Szpilka could not make 200 he was like 230 plus for that fight and over 6-3 or about.I could see Usyk boxing him some but not near enough to last 12 imo.

Even furthermore, it takes special kind of logic trying to prove majority being wrong by exactly the fact that majority end up being correct: Usyk did win the fight.
As if majority picks a horse which wins with "only" a body handicap of the hole lap distance and you hear an opinion that everybody was wrong because advantage didn't reach the half of the lap.

Now if "98%" said Usyk gonna get easy-peasy fight against Briedis - that would be totally different story but this fight wouldn't be awaited this much then.

If 98% of people pick a fighter then that shows he was a massive favourite. If it was viewed as a "close" fight going in then more would have voted Briedis especially with him being the hometown fighter.

Usyk was expected to win comfortably and didn't. So either he was overrated or Briedis underrated. I think it's the former.

          • I don't know what you guys see in usyk apart from him being euro.

The guy is a very basic fighter and luckily for him he's fighting in a ****ty division with only dorticos being legit.

It seems like euro fans have very low standads for the guys they cheer for.

The boxer who knocked out Deontay Wilder (Evgeny Romanov) in the amateurs had similar amount of amateur experience as him at the time and is the same age. So since both were novices and the same age, Wilder losing like that could very well mean he can also lose against another boxer who is sufficiently skilled + sufficiently experienced. Boxers like Povetkin, Usyk, Klitschkos and Beterbiev have never been stopped in their amateur careers like Wilder has been and for good reason (due to skills).

From what I've heard, Haye almost knocked Wilder out (a natural cruiser weight) and Wladimir Klitshcko knocked Wilder out in 2 rounds. So who knows?

It's possible if Wilder lands his most powerful punch, he knocks both Usyk and Briedis out. However, Usyk is 6 foot 3 inches, has a longer reach than Szpilka (78 inches in reach compared to Szpilka's 76 inches in reach), technically better than Szpilka, is defensively more responsible than Szpilka and is more athletic than Szpilka. So it's HIGHLY LIKELY Usyk does better than Szpilka and manages to last 12 rounds. Also, Usyk weighs 215 - 220 pounds on fight during his cruiser weight bouts and is probably going to weigh close to 230 pounds when he moves up to heavyweight.

Whilst Briedis can very well catch Wilder with a power punch and knock him out too. I give Briedis less of a chance at beating Wilder but he still has a solid chance, regardless.

Majority picks FC Barcelona to win FC Real Madrid at Camp Nou home stadium 100% of time. Does it mean it should be an easy game for them even if they end up winning? Pha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!

I don't know how many people expected Usyk to win easily/comfortably at Briedis' yard but that amount of people is by far lesser than amount of people who expected him to win. That's 2 different categories of people and their predictions.
So I repeat, there is a flaw in your logic. Maybe you just see everything in black/white.

Would 98% pick them? And the fight was in Briedis home country. So even with Briedis having an advantage 98% still picked Usyk.

Would you rather go with the bookies? Usyk was an 1/8 favourite there too. Bigger favourite than Mayweather was against McGregor.

Trying to argue he wasn't a big favourite is ******ed.

Well we can just agree to disagree no biggie.I do think Usyk could trouble Wilder early but not enough deffence to last.Breidis I don't give much of a shot at all.Very good crusers just not heavys imo.

Odds are not meant to just pick winners there about trying to figure out how people are gonna bet so they can keep books as close to even as possible.Usyk was a big fav(odds)but most sharp boxing people seen a MUCH closer fight.
