Very close fight these are the kind of guys I'd like to see get over to the US and show The Americans what they have... I'd like to see them live..

Breidis is legit. His speed and timing are top notch. You couldn't even see him let his right hand go, it would just land. Seems very sturdy too, top fighter rightfully one of the top in a stacked division.

Usyk disappointed a little. Lack of power showing more, he can have pop when he sits on his punches, but when he is outstretched fencing he really has very little power, and that was his issue with a sturdy guy like Briedis.

He also needs to work on his defense, for all of his foot work and upper body movement he is getting hit too much.

Missing a lot as well, more and more I see him hitting air, which is OK I guess as long as its not gassing him but still very inefficient..but I think he is too stubborn to change anything about his game now.

Usyk has a decent showing but he did expose more *****s in his armor. His frenetic movement can be timed by slower fighters and his punch is less than intimidating. But that stamina is at elite level and he has some stones to keep pushing all 12 rounds

You're fu&ked in the head if you only had Briedis winning 4 rounds. No way was it that wide. Just for the record, I'm a big Usyk fan but I'm not going to give him credit for rounds he didn't win. Briedis was catching Usyk coming in with clean shots more times than not. Usyk had trouble establishing his jab, missed a lot of big shots and ultimately struggled against Briedis who had a great game plan, solid defense and actually used the ring well to avoid Usyk's attacks. I had Briedis winning 7-5 but a draw would've been a fair decision. Usyk just sc****d by in this one and even he knows, based on his post fight comments, that Briedis took him to the limit and revealed flaws in his game.

Usyk was clearly up at least a couple of rounds but it was in Latvia, so you gotta expect a little bit of bias.

That's not to put down Briedis though, he absolutely proved he is a force to be reckoned with and the #2 man at CW.

Both Latvians deserved to win on the card. The undercard Latvian Bolotniks had a record of 10-3-1 and totally outboxed the favored Dane Nielsen (24-1) even though they gave him the decision.
They should never have had two Canadian judges in there. They were totally clueless and this is coming from a Canadian.

I've been saying for a while that Briedis is the fight that worries me most for Usyk; since before either guy was even Champion.
It was a tougher fight than I expected though. I'm glad it was tough. This will show Usyk that he still has much to learn as a pro.
Sometimes you need these type of matches to make you grow.

I agree with everything you're saying and I know Usyk is your boy but let's be real. Usyk is lucky to have sc****d by with the decision. I'm a big fan of his but it could've easily been 7-5 Briedis.

I don't think there was bias at all. The judges were from Canada and the US. Boxingscene had it a draw.

The guy is a moron. If it were bias towards the Latvian boxers they would've both won! The judges were pro Usyk in my opinion although their cards could've been worse. Those Canadian judges were trash though. One would've been more than enough.

There can't be a draw. It will be a split decision at worst.

That's not quite right. There can be a draw, which will be reflected on their records but if that happens they go to a fourth judge to see who goes on to the final.

This fight reminded me Usyk vs Huck one, with a younger harder hitting and cleaner fighting version of Huck.
In my opinion, Usyk schooled Briedis starting from round 4. Briedis obviously lacks amateur boxing career coming straight from kickboxing, and it shows.
I was surprised to see how well Usyk takes punches. Briedis is a heavy hitter, and he landed a couple of really clean ones, and Usyk ate them without a wink.
I just can't get how the first judge and a whole bunch of people here managed to see it a draw.

Usyk didn't school anybody. He just sc****d by. Briedis was landing cleaner punches more rounds than not. Usyk was busy and flashy but the bulk of the damage he did came from busting up Briedis' nose which was done with his jab and straight left.
It amazes me how anybody who isn't totally bias can watch that fight and say anybody got schooled. It was a close fight in which the favorite, Usyk, under performed and the underdog, Briedis, exceeded expectations. If you can't see that, you either don't know boxing are you are a delusional Usyk cheerleader.
