odds on Gassiev are very attractive imho

Gassiev isn't as static as he was before. he's very dangerous these days. dude can go for miles and his head is like a concrete wall. just look at his neck closely. it's impossible to KO him, i'm like 100% sure

hopefully I'm wrong and Usyk schools him in the final

That's not to put down Briedis though, he absolutely proved he is a force to be reckoned with and the #2 man at CW.
I don't think there was bias at all. The judges were from Canada and the US. Boxingscene had it a draw.

Usyk was 6 to 1 favourite going into this fight. Gassiev is 3 to 1 favourite. Bookmakers expect even a more competitive fight next week.

The atmosphere in Riga sounded good tonight, the fans getting behind Bredis. The final in Saudi Arabia should be interesting by comparison!

It will take place in a 62.000 seat football stadium. Majority of the crowd will be people who have zero knowledge about boxing. I can't see thousands of Ukrainians or Russians or Cubans traveling to Saudi Arabia.

On that performance i'm not seeing Usyk as having enough pop to keep most heavyweights off him - of course if he bulks up to 220 he might have more resistance and more pop.
He was easy to find as well. Breidis is very good but he is not elite. I'd say AJ and Wilder would catch up with him and there's be a messy end.

I honestly think Usyk will batter Gassiev like he did Hück, Dorticos I’m not sure he has the footwork and body movement Briedis did as well as the punch resistance to beat Usyk.

I think we may have seen Usyk’s ceiling, Briedis was definitely underrated and a rematch is a must after the WBSS. If he came in fitter still he may actually win a rematch, work on the defence which wasn’t terrible but he took too many shots to the head to win tonight.

According to his trainer Usyk will weight 220 on fight night at Heavyweight. He usually walks around 215.

Usyk throws a lot, but he misses a lot. Not a lot on those punches, either. He won because he looked busier.
