    Question for those........

...that have repeatedly claimed that Bernard Hopkins is/was an overrated champ that only became well known because of beating 2 smaller men(Hopkins should not be faulted for DLH and Tito moving into HIS division). The question is: what do you think of The MOTHER****ING Executioner now?

he went back to his division where he started from, a division he could have fought at a few years ago, no surprise in his win. he'd get more respect from me if he fights calzaghe, or else it can be said he ducked the best supermiddlweight champion, to go for tarver who few of use knew hopkins would beat cause tarver tires in the later rounds and hopkins is a light heavyweight by nature.

        Yeah, but Tarver's fatigue wasn't a factor.
Hopkins didn't wait until the end before he started beating Tarver down, he broke him down. He frustrated Tarver and Tarver couldn't land or even get into position to throw the punch he wanted to throw so bad.

As far as the thread goes, I'm not one of those people who said Hopkins was overrated so I'll let the haters post and continue to hate on him.

Its funny how before the fight most people were saying Hopkins was old and Tarver would knock him out. Now that Hopkins has won, now its well Tarver is a nobody! I hate that ****, boxing fans are the kings of down playing accomplishments of fighters.

-Ferocity, Hopkins is 41 years old, to still be winning at 41 is amazing in its own right.

Hopkins is an all time great, and it's a shame people crack on his wins vs Tito and DLH as if they are meaningless. DLH did better against Hopkins than Tarver did. Hopkins as 6-8 pretty good wins on his resume; coupling that with his reign at middleweight makes him one of the greatest middleweights ever.

It's very simple. If you are the best in your division for 10+ years and beat all comers in that division, you are a HOF lock in most cases. If Bernard fought all his fights in Philly, then I wouldn't praise him...that's what far too many Euro fighters do, i.e. take the hometown route.

You know, kinda on the contrary with me.I think tarver is/was a pretty good fighter. He didnt make me a fan with the Jones KO that hes known for,he made me a fan in his second fight with Johnson. He put on an outstanding performance in that fight. But i didnt see THAT tarver ANYWHERE in the ring in the hopkins fight. It was probably loosing all that weight, because you cant convince me that Hopkins with his "sheer skill" broke down Tarver. Why? It makes Zero sense.Halfway thru the fight tarver looked like he could barely stand.Very unlike tarver is you look at his other fights.Hopkins a wrecking machine at Light Heavy? Hardly.

I definently was saying **** hopkins, for those 2 fights, he and taylor stole my ppv money with 2 horrible fights. just because I'm pissed at 2 of his performances, doesnt mean I'll completely write him off.

You didnt see that Tarver, because Hopkins wouldnt allow it. He kept circling out of the way and continuously beating Tarver to the punch, defeating and frustrating him at the same time.

Actually Tarver lost energy late in both Johnson fights and the third Jones fight.

Yeah I know, and acknowledged that in some other post. But that was very late in the fight, and Im talking about the Johnson fight here,he kept a very high workrate, because he didnt want to do just enough to win(he won the first fight but they gave it to Johnson),He wanted a clear cut victory.
