The skills/ability are there, he just needs that extra refinement; in another time, he and his pops would head to the Kronk gym to get in work with Emmanuel Steward.

With Manny no longer around, it's basically on Easter Jr and his father to leave Garcia/Linares alone for a bit and use the next 2-4 fight camps to fix what they can fix (Crolla, the Commey/Luna mandatory winner, Argenis Mendes/Yvan Mendy); figure out how in the heck Easter Jr can get it into his spirit to commit to fighting long.

Otherwise, he'll end up as a could've been.
    Excellent post!!!!!

He probably has no problem getting drug into a dog fight, because he knows he can ****. That mind set could very well have him doing the chicken dance sometime in the future though.
While he's not some defensive wizard, I still think it's pretty good. He's really good at catching and shooting. You'll see he catches a lot of punches on his gloves and arms. He turns with the punch a little bit. He is also good parrying jabs. The only thing he doesn't do a lot is move his head, but I think the reason for that is because he's so offensive minded.

Good points man, good points. I'll look for the catches you're talking about, but you're spot on about head movement.

As far as his demeanor as a fighter goes, I like the look in his eyes. He goes from smiles to ,"You beating me? It ain't happenin bro."

I did notice that it seems he can have his rythum thrown off kind of easy. His punches and movement were flowing nicely in one of the early rounds, until the ref stopped him, and gave a warning about low blows. For the next minute of the round, that smooth flow was gone.

I missed part of the fight, so I must have missed that part of it. He has one of the best, consistent work rates in boxing today. His work is very steady and consistent and he doesn't seem to tire. Like when he fought Brook, Brook was making Spence work hard and won at least a few rounds, but Spence never seemed to tire and Spence kept his work rate consistent. I was very impressed by that.

Hopefully, if that doesn't happen next, he fights somebody just to stay busy. I'm sure he doesn't want to box against opponents who aren't highly ranked or have a chance in hell to beat him but he may have to do so until Thurman or the winner of Crawford/Horn are mandated to fight him. Even then it may not happen because A: Thurman obviously doesn't want the fight and B: When Crawford beats Horn, the politics of boxing may prevent the match up.
I sure hope I'm wrong about that, otherwise, it will be a disappointing year for Spence.
I think he should fight whoever wants to fight. People will criticize, but people will criticize no matter what.
We could get Spence/Thurman, after Thurman's tune up, and people will still complain about something.

I hear ya! I hope he would never be that foolish!!!

Dont care how GOOD you are. With the wrong plan you will lose.

Dumbest fight plands ive seen lately.

                • Keith Thurman didn't envision this, when he chose "one time" ...the Guerreros changed it to "run time". When Thurman stepped up in class, and it took more than one time, he added more movement to his game, and the Guerreros were making fun of that.

Spence just came up with "some time" ...to make light of Thurman delaying their showdown. He picked a nickname that opponents can easily find a rhyming insult with .

                  • Spence is looking like the next Sergio Martinez. Triple G. Riggo. Punisher Paul Williams was headed there. He'll get no one to fight him until he's into his mid thirties and has lost a step.

                    • I hope the fight happens. Crawford is definitely an old school fighter willing to fight the best. I think Crawford does really well against fighters who come forward and I think he will give Spence trouble but I feel like Spence might be too big, too strong and will eat up everything Bud throws at him.

If Crawford-Spence happens, it's definitely on PPV and I will pay for it!
