Smart training , he has a "Hit on the Fly ' training regimen .Designed to punch without sequence that Roach is doing . I actually preached this type of training for years bc it trains the body to faster reaction times with less reliance on fixed combos ......

You strike the target that is shown ,there is no combination pattern when hitting pads so the eye /hand coordination reaction becomes faster . The trainer is actually moving with you as he throws punches and you having to strike the target with no set rehearing .

This is more old school martial arts training but any one wishing to decrease reaction time would do this ,

Not many trainers do this bc they arent aware it isnt just about sequence combos but its also training to hit whats available too. This gets your fighter reflexes faster ,obviously with Kownacki its working delivering very sharp accurate punches even with his body type .

I'm not so sure Miller would of beaten Kownacki. Not that Kownacki is that good but that Miller is overrated.

The sparring sessions I've seen of Miller and Kownacki, Kownacki held his own, perhaps even did a bit better than Miller.

The difference between these 2 maybe power. Miller is an accumulative puncher, he isn't a big one punch hitter while Kownacki has decent power.

As for last nights fight. Kiladze never had the chin to deal with Kownacki, he was one punch KO'ed in brutal fashion at cruiserweight, knew his chin would give out.

Kownacki looks solid but limited. I think he might be a bit better than Arreola, he doesn't telegraph his right hand like Arreola did, puts his punches together better and counter punches well. But his lack of defence and head movement will cost him at a higher level against better punchers. I suspect he'll become a gate keeper like Arreola.

Not to rain on Baby fat's parade. I like him and he did a good job.

However they said the Kiladze guy had the flu the week before and honestly, he looked like a sick guy in there. He was depleting very fast before Baby Fat really laid into him and the first round KD was more of a push.

Don't know that a rematch would go differently but the guy seemed off to me.

i totally agree with you. Kauffman & Miller would be good fights for Kownacki but his window of opportunity is going to be small much like Chris Arreola. You can’t walk through punches forever in the heavyweight division. He needs to get in better shape & develop some defence. With that being said I enjoy watching him fight. All action guy. Too bad Arreola is done. Arreola from 5 or 6 years ago against Kownacki would have been a war.

My thoughts exactly. A fringe guy who will have some exciting fights but will get smashed when he faces guys who can really punch.
