  • Hopkins/Ray Robinson....

While being completely amazed & blown away by Hopkins' performance & accomplishment this weekend......
The one thing I've heard a few times that I don't want to hear, anymore-"Hopkins did what Ray Robinson couldn't.....win a lt. heavy title."

Well, guess what? Robinson did something Bernard Hopkins NEVER will do.....& that's be the greatest welterweight in the history of the sport.
Remember that........Welterweight is 13lbs less than middleweight. That's where Robinson started.

Come on, stop hating. Hopkins did do what SRR didn't. No need to bring in Robinson's career into this. Hopkins really stole the show. I'm still amazed!
Let the men be in the spotlight as he ends his great career.

Hopkins is great but he is no Robinson no one is . Remember Robinson started fighting amateur as a featherweight so in the pro's it would take someone like Pac to dominate all the way up to Lightheavy to match what Robinson did

Before you say "hating".....note how I started off the post, while also keeping in mind I am a Philadelphian who is a big Hopkins fan.

This was in no way intended to take away from Hopkins' victory, which I will be gushing over, for the next few days.

It's about tempering things. I have read at least 4 articles that speak of how Hopkins did what Robinson couldn't.....while none of these articles noted that Ray Robinson is a natural welterweight.
It's called "keeping things in perspective", not "hating", smart guy.

he doesnt compare himself to SRR, he just said thats his idol and to do something that his idol didnt do really meant something to him.
