Roman did nothing to become P4P number in retrospect and the media blatantly disrespected Andre Ward for no reason.
And then you have Teddy Atlas ranking Lomachenko over Terence Crawford and Andre Ward, who achieved so much more in their careers in two different weight classes.
When Crawford's biggest accomplishments involve worthless titles and not his resume or level of competition - that tells you all you need to know.
Andre "Son of Golata" Ward was essentially treated like a God at HBO, but he has no charisma and he fights dirty. Nobody wants to see excessive clinching and low blows all night. No to mention, most people around the world believe that Kova beat him the first fight after dropping him.
Roman Gonzalez disproves your point about the media hyping European fighters... Choco was super hyped but at least he fought in a loaded division and was beating the best in that division... Andre Ward was fighting tune up after tune when he was fighting. You saying Choco did "NOTHING" to be lb for lb is insane when his resume is a million times better than Crawford's resume.

For me Fighter of the Year was between Terence Crawford and Lomachenko. I would have given it to Crawford for unifying all 4 belts (something that is extremely rare) but Lomachenko getting it is reasonable.
What I do take issue with is Trainer of the Year being given to Anatoly Lomachenko for only training one fighter. That was never good enough for Floyd Sr or Roger to win the award, so why do the standards change now?
That award should have gone to Derrick James for turning both Errol Spence and Jermell Charlo into beasts.Last edited by ShoulderRoll; 01-20-2018, 12:17 PM.

Ward had been very inactive for a long time so that is sort of a reason and then everyone thinks he lost to Kovalev in the first fight. You may not be familiar with the smaller weights but Chocolatito had been very under appreciated and got to the top of 3 divisions and defeated a very good champion in his 4th catergory. He was beating very good fighters for example Estrada is better than anyone Ward, Crawford or Loma has ever defeated.
I think you are playing the victim and perhaps have some insecurities. I think there's been plenty of black fighters who got put on a pedestal way too quickly like Broner or the way people go on about Spence who's proven next to nothing. Ward was given too much off a pass for being a dirty fighter who rarely fought for 4-5 years. Lomachenko has eye catching talent and is an active fighter who's lost maybe 1 round since the Salido fight he's also stepped up to the fights people wanted - don't forget Walters was supposed to crush him.
It's not a race thing at all. What's "Mayweathers record"? Finito Lopez was 51-0 people ignored that and Moonsri is now 49-0 and he's not being hyped up.
It is a race thing, since networks and promoters are trying to heavily promote European fighters over black and brown fighters. The winner of the Ward-Kovalev fight was suppose to crown the P4P king in Boxing and then the media and net works immediately turned on Ward and changed their tune after the results. Ward won a close fight and then was criticized for winning. Roman Gonzalez was beating nobodies in 3 different weight classes and barely beat Estrada and Cuaron. And while Estrada is a great fighter, he's not as accomplished as Kovalev, Victor Postol, or Felix Diaz.
And Ricardo Lopez didn't have a perfect record since he had a draw. Floyd has NO LOSSES, and NO DRAWS. Which is why his 50-0 record is more impressive. Forget the fact that Floyd was a Lineal champion in 4 weight classes, beat more world champions and unified two divisions at the same time in two different weight classes.

Terence Crawford dominated two Olympic Gold Medalists name Gamboa and Felix Diaz. He dominated Victor Postol, Hank Lundy, and Julious Indongo. Hell, even Crawford's journeyman opponents are more well known and accomplished than most of Roman Gonzalez's opponents.
Face it, Gonzalez was just an HBO hype job that was being used to basically put down other black fighters that were more accomplished. And now these net works and organizations are doing the same thing with Lomachenko, who's skill set is great enough to not get this unnecessary hype. It makes no sense for a fighter with 11 ****ing fights to be ranked number 1 on any legit P4P list.
