He has gone up weight classes. He turned pro when he was 24. Since turning 24, Canelo has not moved up a weightclass, apart from a one off against Chavez Jr.

If he as you have said in the past Canelo was simply being a Diva and gaining a advantage over his opponent the fact is he didn't make weight by contracting a catchweight. If he needs that advantage over his opponent or not be weight drained he'd have to fight at 155 or what's the point of making weight. Personally I believe Canelo has a hard time making 154. The bottom line is if he wanted to be considered a 154 pound champion he has to make weight not habitually fight over the JM limit. He is a stocky guy and carries a lot of muscle. He should have moved up long ago.

he made 154 for Smith you fool

he could have made 154 whenever he wanted

No he can make weight for fighters that aren't a threat. Smith wasn't a threat for Canelo. You casuals are clogging up the forum with nonsense.

The comment I was responding to was Shadow saying these guys nowadays are in good enough shape to go 15. Generally speaking, I agree. Obviously there are guys like Canelo who has easily, but he's the exception, not the rule. For the most part, guys seem to be able to go 12 and still have gas in the tank.

But explain to us how Im talking rubbish saying guys today, with better sports science, nutrition, and better training techniques, can't do the same thing guys 30 or more years ago were doing...
