If he loses in May, the return fight is against David Lemieux in September anyway, a fight that'd still be on PPV at this point.

By the time it comes around to set things for May 2019, Alvarez will survey the landscape and pick the fight that works best for him (Golovkin will have had to fight Saunders or Jermall Charlo to keep his belt together through the fall and winter, and Derevyanchenko would be barrelling down on Golovkin's neck by early Spring 2019; it's my prediction that he's going to curve Jermall Charlo, relinquishing the WBC belt, and maybe fight Derevyanchenko instead to curve Saunders too. Early 2019 comes, and Alvarez could be lined up to fight for the vacant WBO belt for Cinco De Mayo weekend)

If they put canelo vs David Lemieu on ppv Oscar is back on the blow.

I barely watched pacman vs horn and that was sad. He was walking through mannys best shots, the same shots that ko'd Ricky hatten. Horn is trash, I still can't believe Manny didn't knock him out. He's an old man. Who would pay to see him get knocked out by an B list fighter? That's messed up. Let him have some cognitive ability left.

Not going to be a blockbuster, but with Alvarez's PPV audience being what it is, Lemieux still having value in Canada, and Lemieux happy to stand there and punch it out with you, 600k-750k PPV buys isn't unheard of.

Decent US PPV, decent gate for the event, Canadian PPV, event sponsors, and Mexican TV, and Alvarez/Golden Boy Promotions will likely be left still splitting up $40m between Saul Alvarez, Lemieux, and Oscar.

Oscar could be back on the blow all he wants; Saul Alvarez seems to have picked up enough from Floyd and Cotto to not let any of that affect his own money.

The Mexico TV deal goes directly through Alvarez, HBO signed their deal with Alvarez and not Golden Boy, and Eric Gomez seems to have grown into a man able to handle the day-to-day work that Oscar still has no longterm interest in doing (if Oscar shows up to a big event loaded again, there's no doubt in my mind that Alvarez/Chepo/Eddie will look to have Eric Gomez be the only person that does business on behalf of Canelo Promotions, with the possibility of Gomez taking over the day-to-day running of Alvarez's company whenever he'd be free to walk from the Golden Boy Promotions partnership).

After seeing him get washed by Saunders. We all know Canelo will knock him out by the 5th round. I don't think the market is there if he's fighting in the USA. 750k seems high to me.

Which is why I set that as the ceiling for such a fight; still, Alvarez's Mexican TV deal is worth a ton of money, the Tecate deal is worth a good bit of coin, and Jerry Jones' thirst to be a part of the Saul Alvarez show will guarantee a sizable US gate whenever the fight ends up.

Before counting a single US PPV dollar, you're likely already looking at $25m-$30m in the pot.
