It ain't about money or location or PPV or celebrity punters.

It's about history and legacy and unification.

It's what motivates windmill, with his 'one man to rule them all' schtick, and Parker with his 'destiny' talk and AJ with his 'legacy' building , hell, even Tyson Fury wants his belts back to prove he can do it again.

The money is what drives Fast Eddie and his looking beyond the immediate challenge of his charge.

If that's all they're in it for, the champs won't ever fight each other, but it's not.

If Wilder has a stellar performance against Ortiz (on Showtime) and Joshua has a stellar performance against Parker (on Showtime International in the afternoon, but likely re-aired with a live show in the evening), you've got a blockbuster event for the summer the last weekend of summer (Floyd may have stumbled onto something that could consistently work with the general public for big enough fights).

Priced $65/$75 on PPV, how many buys needed are we actually talking about needing to match the UK numbers (ignoring for a moment that, not unlike Ricky Hatton, the UK audience will still buy a ton of PPVs, even for an event that'd run, live, 2am-4am).

Given from the week after Canelo's PPV through the end of August, for the general sports press to sell to the public on the first undisputed heavyweight championship fight in 15 years, between two charismatic guys who knock their opponents dead, and I have no doubt that 500k PPV buys is a pretty guaranteed sell.

Because you're selling more than just a Deontay Wilder title defense

If Wilder struggles to a decision win against Ortiz and looks vulnerable then I could easily see Hearn setting up the AJ-Wilder fight at the end of the year with say a Povetkin or Pulev fight for AJ before then.

Not gonna happen. I doubt wilder gets past Ortiz and if he does Joshua won't agree to a 50/50 split not when wilder has one belt while Joshua is sittin there with three belts.

Get a life punctuation ****, this is a boxing site where we discuss boxing and not English grammar.

And oh, you have to promise me you would shove the *fullstops*, commas, apostrophes etc deep down where the sun doesn't shine.

                Fair deal?

Yeah, birdlegs keeping belt hostage by fighting ex NFL players and bums earning peanuts in front of like less than 10k hillbilly fans. First time he is stepping up to fight King King though, I give him that!

If the deal is for 50/50 of the US money (T-Mobile Arena, Corona vs the biggest sponsor that Matchroom can bring to the table, SHOPPV, Canada/Mexico TV rights, Latin America rights, etc) with Anthony Joshua keeping the UK TV rights, what's the problem with such a deal?

The package matters more than any bluster of pot split because both fighters are likely in positions where they're seeing back-end money on their fights (AJ is already on an 80/20 deal with Matchroom Sport in the UK, and Wilder has been a co-promoter for his fights in Alabama, with Haymon's relationship with Lou DiBella likely having similar terms too).
