"If he wins" ... Bivol is better than Kovalev.

Barrera will be a good test for Bivol. I still think it's too early, but maybe he'll surprise me.

They have to fight. I don't see that big gap, other than age, that some fans see. In this site there's always a bum and an elite boxer facing each other. They seem to "fanboys" instead of real fans. Barrera is not a walk in the park for any lhw, period.

            Good matchup!

I like Barrera in this one! Bivol is too new on the seen to see if he really is the Real deal as of yet?! I Do have a question ? When is Beterbive going to show up again ? Make No mistake he is the absolute beast in the light heavy weight division & looking to steam roll anybody that gets in that guys way! Watch out guys nobody wants to fight the Bully Artur Biterbive is coming to clean out the entire division! I suppose that’s why everyone is running for the hills..🚶🏿*♂️🏃🏾*♂️

Have to agree with Bivol here, even though he’s a little untested in pros, he looks tougher to beat than Kovalev

I’d rather take my chances hitting Kovalev to the body or winning with low blows like Ward did, than going after Bivol who looks very solid right now

Barrera on the other hand has good, not elite power, average speed at best, his defense is far worse than GGG's who people criticize all the time for "having no defense," but even those casual fan opinions aside, the point is Barrera's defense is not elite either. He's big, he's pretty heavy handed, he's strong, and he has good not great fundamentals. I'm not so sure he's any better than Isaac Chilemba or Eleider Alvarez, in fact I would pick Chilemba over him.

                .........

So, I personally don't rate Barrera that highly, but a lot of Ward fans do, which is great because now we get to find out. If Barrera legitimately beats Bivol, then we have to give those Ward fans credit, they called it. But if Bivol beats Barrera, then those Ward fans should have consistent standards (yeah right) and give Bivol credit that he may not deserve in reality, but which he certainly deserves within their LDBC alternate reality in which Barrera is considered a top level guy.
I do not mean to split hairs because I actually agree with your points. You and I just define boxers basically the same with different words.

"Top level" to me just means this is a boxer who has been in wars and has proven himself worthy of them. I see Barrera as top level because he fights anyone who is willing and makes them work. He is another of those fighters I like to say isn't terribly great in any area, but he ain't fantastically bad in any area either.

I do not in any way think he is elite. Am I as guilty as others for rating him higher for simply showing decent against Ward? Maybe. That is legit. Bivol is quite a bit better in most physical areas (he is quicker, hits harder, has better combination speed) But I just would not be surprised at all to see Barrera control this fight. He is good enough to teach the unproven kid how to box.

But, Ward fought Barrera, so there has been a huge push to say he's elite. Meanwhile David Lemieux is a much better version of Shabbransky, who gave Barrera hell. Lemieux also has better wins and has looked much more dominant in his fights. Much more KO power P4P as well. But the Ward fans say Lemieux is a bum. Obviously, he looked like one vs Saunders, but he had an injury in that fight, plus styles make fights, plus Saunders is emerging as the most underrated boxer in the sport. He fought Eubank Jr early before anyone knew how good either of those guys were, so when they both struggled with each other in their own ways, it had the effect of making both seem not that good. Plus no one outside of the UK paid attention to the details of that fight. Looking back now, both were absolute giants for 160, and both have very good handspeed and reach for 160, as well as underrated power.

And like I said, Shabbransky has also looked very amateur more often than Lemieux has, but he gave Barrera a ton of problems.
