I watch First Take sometimes. Max is a smart guy, but he has his biases and he doesn't hide them.
I don't deny Max is a biased commentator. I'm not a fan believe me. But I find it funny how we have posters saying he is not credible when he chooses Pac as the greatest fighter of this generation, but he is credible when pressuring Pac and in a post-fight interview. We live in a world of extremes based upon which fanbase you belong to. I'm actually surprised he didn't choose Ward as his #1 the way he slobbers all over him.

His argument for ranking Pac over Floyd was bull**** though. He claimed Manny moved up six weight classes as a professional compared to Floyd's five, therefore Manny is the number one fighter of this generation. Complete fanboy nonsense. And keep in mind this was after he claimed the winner of May vs Pac would decide who was the greater fighter.

Well, it is all opinion based, and if that is his genuine opinion he is certainly entitled to it. Champion in 8 weight classes is not something anyone has done before. Yet, there have been fighters who have gone as much as 87-0 (JCC), so going 50-0 isn't that big a deal. Had Floyd beaten Manny at his best, instead of "marinating" the fight for five years to avoid him at his best, then Max may have had a different opinion.

Max said the winner of May vs Pac would decide who was greater. This was after the fight had been negotiated. When Floyd won he changed his argument. It's why I and others can say he has no credibility when he ranks Floyd below Pac, but also like his post-fight interview with Manny.

he did that because his employers HBO and ESPN made him do it. Max isn't going to do anything to mess up his check so you can't really blame him for saying what he said.

If you watch it, he says it in such a sheepish way that you know he is towing the company line.

Perhaps it was the way he won that made him change his mind. It's not as though Floyd went in there to make a statement. He was content to run, clinch and jab his way to a very boring victory. He has to take half the blame for that being a lousy fight and the most over-hyped fight of all time. Actually more than half the blame since he "marinated" that fight for five long years.

If you notice in the post fight interview, manny says nothing about his shoulder, just that he won and was robbed. After some locker room counseling by the bob father, manny had a new story and new excuse for his loss ready for the post fight press conference.
