He's better than Wilder. Never mistake KO power for skill. When you fight blown up Cruisers and one stoned, out of weight lazy Haitian if you don't KO them you are in real trouble. Ortiz gives him a beat down.

I wish it were true, but I've 'sat through' Ortiz last four fights and if he beats Wilder then Wilder should be pretty embarrassed. The difference in speed should be telling, I give Ortiz one thing, he might be able to time Wilder's offence, but Wilder does 1-2 very well so I think he'll eat a lot of leather.

I've 'sat through' Ortiz' last 4 fights (yawn) and watched other highlights (I think there might even be some black and white fights in the archives somewhere) and Ortiz looks to lack variation to me. He has a nice slip, that he uses a lot. He has the pawing right hand that might work against a smaller less experienced guy, but surely Wilder can work out how to deal with it. I just can't see it being any better for Ortiz than a wide points win to Wilder I'm afraid.

Hope Wilder handles this business. Ortiz is a good match, but I do not get why there is so much HATE for Wilder. I get CRITICISM. I think he is a flawed, borderline overconfident fighter that loses control in the ring and allows himself to be hit by some very B-level fighters. But, sweet mother of all that is Holy, the dude is an exciting fighter. He has a great killer instinct, is quick and fleet footed in the ring and comes to throw leather. He showed when he fought Stiverne the first time he CAN be a decent boxer, working behind a jab. He just hasn't shown it since. I was really on the Ortiz bandwagon a couple years back, and truly thought he was going to be the next huge star. Now, I think he is slow and limited, and that Wilder peppers him and controls this thing. Would I be shocked if he goes all emotional in the ring, leaves himself open and Ortiz sends him into the third row to end this? Nope, not at all. But I just don't think it happens.

I love how you left out the windmill of punches and sloppy winging shots. Not to mention, Windmill demands 50/50 to fight Joshua.

Agreed. the Ortiz that demolished Jennings is long gone. That Ortiz would probably beat Windmill, but something is clearly different about him.

I agree good post!! I get criticizing his resume and some of his antics but he is exciting to watch and hasn't been in a boring fight yet. His flaws make him even more exciting because he does have lapses in his defense that leaves him open to be countered. And you wonder if Wilder is gonna get caught then next thing you know he knocks his opponent out cold. I also think Wilder KO's Ortiz in six!
