Agreed. I've never seen a more biased performance from a referee than him in the Ricky Hatton vs. Floyd Mayweather fight. Nullified Ricky's offense, while letting Floyd get away with elbowing and holding, leaving Hatton in perfect range to be picked off. Killed that fight as a contest.

if it were up to me, every match would just get reffed by either Steve Smoger or Mills Lane. I've never had to worry about reffing in matches with those two, just judges lol

I liked Smoger until the fight I mentioned in the original post, the Hopkins-Murat one. He was horrendous in that.

in a way getting major coverage is helping to bring an end to the cardiff ref mafia there and in similar outfits across the world, because we can see their crimes getting exposed again and again on youtube.

yeah, but with Smogers history, I'm willing to give a mulligan. The fact that you can really only think of one bad match proves his quality.

Plus, he let guys go at each other way harder than any other ref did, yet you could also tell he genuinely cared for the fighters

It was bullcrap officiating. I feel sorry for the people that bought the PPV. The undercard ****** too. Jeff Lacy was supposed to knock Peter Manfredo Jr into the third row but all we got is a boring clinch fest decision.
