      If there's a limit, it's not really heavyweight.

      Think about what you're saying. That you never want to find out who the best is. Weight classes are fine as a way to make money from boxers who would stand no chance otherwise, but to have no unlimited division is to never know who the best in the world is.

      Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder are the best boxers in the world and we know that because they compete with no limit and have won the top championships. Hopefully soon they'll fight each other and out of 7 billion humans on earth, we will know which single person is better at boxing than anybody on the planet.

      If you place a weight limit, then we don't actually know if we're ever finding out who the best is.

      It's a horrible horrible idea that spits in the face of Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis and everyone who came before them. To be the heavyweight champion of the world is a distinction higher than any other feat in athletics. The entire history and prestige of the sport is seriously compromised when one generation places a weight cap when no previous generation did.

        Boxing needs SHW, just look at the Klit Bros' decade+ dominance over the HW division, the proof is in the pudding.

          heavyweight = unlimited.

          add super cruiserweight if you want, but guys who could make 225 would still want to fight at unlimited.

            What if the only reason the WBC is looking to split the heavyweights is really to have another belt and get a quick buck out of it? I'm not saying that's the reason but we know how alphabet belts have become a business in of itself.

              I think the only change should be raising light heavyweight up to around 185

                I'm not against a super heavyweight division, but I think it should be part of an overall restructuring of the sport with a few less divisions.

                    There is NO need for another heavy div!The cruiser div is starting to get good ONLY because they KNOW they cannot compete with the heavys.Its still worth more to be a top 15 heavy then a cruiser champ but that's starting to change.Another div would have ruined both.They NEED one they could move cruiser a hair to 205 and put one at 185.Get rid of staw and start at 106,110,114,118 gets rid of one and only messes with one of original 8 moving fly to 110.And it would make ALL at least 4pds apart instead of 3 between fly and superfly and bantam.
