Holyfield was often disadvantaged by size, and experience when he beat Qawi at cruiser. He took the risks and defied the odds.

In some ways Evander is greater than Floyd such as unifying, and facing bigger, more dangerous foes which Floyd always sought to avoid.

That said I voted for Floyd, his longevity, multiple titles in multiple divisions and pure skill of execution have me put him above Evander Holyfield.

Holyfield is a legend and if you go purely off of wins (I don't really consider the second Tyson win highly due to the circumstances) I can certainly see him arguably above Mayweather due to the beasts he fought and beat....but remember this is the same guy that James Toney did a real number on. Sure I don't consider Floyd really undefeated but no - one was ever able to do a number on him like Toney did to Holyfield.

You have to consider the losses...

It's Holyfield's losses vs Floyd's losses which imo made voting Floyd a relatively easy decision.

That said... Holyfield is a guy that fought at heavyweight...in some ways he will always get more credit simply due to size.

          It actually is close.

Holyfield's resume at the top end is more impressive.

Floyd has a deeper body of work.

I give it to Floyd slightly, certainly not a landslide.

            ^^^this, kind of.

Holyfield is 55 years old, so, off the top, let's ignore the last 20 years of his life.

Loss to Michael Moore, two losses to Rid**** Bowe.

Was the undisputed cruiserweight champion, won the undisputed heavyweight championship by beating Buster Douglas (and making three defenses against faded fighters, tbh), beat Mike Tyson twice.

Even if you weigh that against Floyd's entire resume, Floyd was an utter monster at 130lbs (Genaro Hernandez, Angel Manfredy, Justin Juuko, Diego Corrales, Jesus Chavez), beat the 135lb kingpin in his first fight at lightweight, put on arguably his best performance in his destruction of Arturo Gatti, moved to his walk-around weight at 147 and throttled the undisputed champ and the fighter who beat him, beat Oscar at his walk-around weight, and even then went on to be the lineal champ, simultaneously, at two weight classes.

Even with context, Floyd's run is downright special.

11 children by 6 different women, HGH use while trying to hang on to boxing in his 40s, and actually being broke after earning half a billion dollars over his 30-year career?

Jail is terrible, Floyd and his domestic abuse stuff to deal with (which Holyfield has his own domestic violence issues to deal with), but you're letting the schtick cloud your judgement.

People say Oscar and Cotto were over the hill Larry Holmes was an antique when he fought Holyfield. And Foreman jeez don’t get me started. Holyfield was still amazing but you see the double standard there?

Holyfield's win over Tyson are suspect (Evan Fields?). Prior to that, his wars with Rid**** and Stewart earns him a higher place than Mayweather. In 20 years time Mayweather's fights and legacy will be forgotten. People still remember and watch Holyfield's fights.

I don't think the Toney fight factors in at all. Holyfield was washed up by then. Holyfield went to war with larger men more often than not and was about 40 when that fight happened all that stuff adds up.

Holyfield is no angel but is a much better human being than Floyd. Add to the fact Holyfield actually CARES about boxing.
