No such thing when.....
Mayweather fought the best and beat the best! Bob Arum matched Mayweather for 37 fights! Never did him any favors ... not to mention TR held Floyd away from their golden geese! Cotto, Mosley & Golden Boy. Floyd is the best because he beat the best!! Time in and time out!Last edited by sportbuddha; 01-09-2018, 03:18 AM.Comment

Basically Floyd was undisputed WW champion:
In 2005 Judah became undisputed WW champion. He held three major titles WBA WBC IBF (WBO wasn't major back then). Then Judah lost to Baldomir. But Baldomir didn't paid sanctioning fees. Then Floyd beat both of them.In effect Floyd became undisputed WW champion. It's just bureaucracyComment

Forget about undisputed Floyd never beat a great fighter in his prime, so Holyfield should have mentioned that instead of talking about meaningless alphabet belts.
What matters is who you took the belt from not just that you got it.Comment

I never liked Holyfield as a boxer... don't care for him now.
I'm still trying to figure how Mayweather's name came up in that conversation.
I guess Mayweather couldn't be as great as Jermaine Taylor.Comment

C'mon Champ... If by undisputed you mean lineal (having all or most belts, or being the man who beat THE man) lets not go too far. Cory Spinks was undisputed, Julio Cesar Chavez wasn't, let that sink in. That's much more difficult in weight classes where stiff competition lies in weight divisions above and below your very own division. People want to see you fight 3 weight classes at the same time when you are good in lower weights. The temptations to go up and down are high. A talented Heavyweight only has that one challenge because weight classes are not a variable for them since they only have one class. I always credit fighters who have fought thru great ranges of weight classes (Think Floyd, Pacquiao, Duran, Chavez, Whitaker). Besides, Floyd was either technically lineal twice, or never lost his lineal title (depending on how you feel his short break plays into it). Baldomir refused to pay sanctioning fees after beating Judah, which technically on paper, prevented Floyd from fighting for undisputed thought he beat the man that beat THE man. The later on, Floyd refused to pay for his sanctioning fees after Mosley (which would have made him undisputed again). If you forgot the path for how Floyd got to "undisputed", here it is and how it was passed to Floyd... Mosley lost to Forrest, Forrest lost to Mayorga, Mayorga lost to Spinks, Spinks lost to Judah, Judah lost to Baldomir, Baldomir to Floyd. If I'm wrong, by all means remind me. I could care less.. just like keeping track of boxing history.Comment
