Americans don't seem to realise that travelling from one side of a country to the other doesn't count. You're still in America. Travelling, in boxing, generally means leaving your country. I've heard moronic boxers try to compare travelling from East coast to West coast to travelling from Europe to America. It isn't the same. It is in fact a cop out.

Wilder vs Joshua belongs in Vegas, it will do the numbers with some build up and its great for the sport, he can always fight Fury and Euros etc at home.
If Joshua doesn't go to Vegas he is diminishing his career so he can get his robot thoughts in order in home comfort. Reach for greatness, a match like this doesn't come often and both guys are made for Vegas

well, he's fought in Puerto Rico and Mexico, but thats besides the point. One thing to consider is that Wilder lives in Alabama his last fight was in Brooklyn, so he travelled 1100 miles to fight Stiverne.

Joshua's last fight was in Wales. He has also fought in Scotland and but that's it. England to Wales is 150 miles. England to Scotland is 350 miles.

What I'm trying to say here is, Joshua "travels" because he fights in different countries (technically) but Wilder doesn't travel because his fights are all in the same country? Distance and Time Zone make a bigger difference to a fighter. Than going next door to another country.

Would you consider a fighter who lived in Vancouver Canada who fought someone in Seattle WA to be a travelling fighter?

Deontay has to travel to make decent money. Fighting in Bingo halls just wont cut it all the time. And going to Russia dont count. And would you really count Auderly Harrison as a challenge? So to put in perspective if he sold out the MGM and made $15m dollars a fight. Would he fight AJ in the UK.

the travel talk is just that though, talk. It doesn't really matter. It's just more build for the inevitable Wilder/Joshua fight. Wilder likely wants to have it in Vegas and Joshua will want it in Wembly. Vegas will likely come with a bigger pay day, but Joshua would likely prefer to fight in front of 90,000 drunk fans of his.

As much as I want to see the fight happen, I think that we won't get it until 2019. And if Fury can actually lose weight, that might throw a wrench into it even further.

What's the point in being the A side if you're going to travel to other people's backyard?? Its one of the perks of being the A side, you decide where the fight happens. Obviously Wilder doesn't know what if feels like to be an A side but if he was ever an A side you can be damn sure he wouldn't be traveling to his opponents backyard.

People travel to where the most money is and AJ's money is at home. Wilder even admitted the money is in the UK so he'll travel there.

But to be fair AJ vs Klitschko 2 was damn near confirmed for Las Vegas and would have took place there if Klitschko didn't retire.

Although I do agree with you about the A side, AJ doesn’t necessarily need to travel but he should if he wants to crack the US market
