How much of a chance do you give Lamont Peterson?

Thurman doesn't want anything to do with Spence. He might make excuses to vacate before he takes that fight. Thurman won't fight Spence till 2019, or never, if he can help it.

The rest of the welters is a waste of time.

That's my opinion. I hope I'm very wrong on this one. I don't want us looking back in a few years and saying, "Damn, what if Spence....."
Same with the guy in my avatar. I only want tough fights for him too.

Peterson is a very good fighter and was the reigning WBA welterweight champion until vacating to face Spence. Expect Spence to clearly win, but Peterson has a chance for sure.

I thought Thurman was the WBA champion, unless you are talking about that bogus interim thing, like the one Jacobs had at middle, when GGG is the real champion. Is that the one?

cue the vince mcmahon theme song.

rooting for peterson though. hopefully its an entertaining fight, but i dunno...peterson has only fought once in the last 2 years and he hasnt exactly been impressive at 147 outside of the danny garcia fight. spence by stoppage.

He's a tier below Spence, but he takes the sport seriously, and he ALWAYS comes to fight. If Spence isn't on his A game he will get beat because Lamont will only lose to great fighters.

I think the most interesting part will be, what kind of game plan Peterson will try to execute?

It's boxing so obviously anthing can happen but unless he's able to catch Spence cold in the first or second round, I really don't see anything he can do to win this fight. On paper Peterson doesnt have any advanteges in this match-up. Peterson is a tough dude but I expect Spence to bring his A-game and win by KO/TKO rounds 4-8.

Thurman is WBA super champion. Peterson was WBA world champion, but vacated to fight Spence. Matthyse is not fighting for the vacant title.

                No, not interim.

                    .
That's exactly what it is, just a different name. Even the WBA itself is trying to get rid of it for lack of creditability and clarity. The real champ is Thurman.

Canelo told them to screw themselves when they pretended Lara was the champion. Remember that? Canelo knew who the real champ was (Floyd), so he told them to shove it.

No, that's not what it is. The interim champion was upgraded to world champion and then lost to Peterson. The WBA still has interim champions. World champions are not the same thing.

No, you're wrong. The WBA is trying to eliminate their interim titles and super titles. They are not eliminating their world titles.
