  • Comments Thread For: Robert Garcia: Mikey's Too Big to Fight Lomachenko Right Now

Robert Garcia considers Vasyl Lomachenko one of the two best boxers in the world. The veteran trainer also understands why fight fans want to watch his younger brother, Mikey Garcia, test Lomachenko in what would be one of the most intriguing fights that the sport can offer. Robert Garcia just doesn't think the timing is right for that fight to happen.

I was really surprised that Arum didn't set up a fight with Beltran for the vacant WBO Lightweight title! If Lomachenko was going to 135, that was the ticket! Loma called out Mikey on the night of the Rigo fight. It wasn't even 48 hours before his team said they were looking for a fight @ 130!

    December 12, 2017:

So what's next for WBO super featherweight titlist, Vasyl Lomachneko, who made Guillermo Rigondeaux submit in six rounds this past weekend at the Theater of MSG?

"I heard that somebody from Top Rank is already talking about a unification. We want to unify titles. I think they've been talking to (Miguel) Berchelt, the WBC title-holder or any other unification," said Lomachenko's manager, Egis Klimas, to BoxingScene.com.

These Garcias always have ready excuses when the fight is becoming a possibility.
I for one don't know what they're doing.
Sports veterans like Al Bernstein just recently said Loma vs Mikey would be a huge fight this year.
It's a waste of hope, if that's how you say it.
Fans fantasize about it, then only to be crushed later.
This Mikey needs to gather his thoughts and make up his damn mind.

Did you read the article? He said it's not the case of if Mikey is ready, but when Loma is ready.

            They're waiting for Loma.

“I think with Loma it’s more about when will they be ready to fight Mikey, not [when] Mikey [is] ready to fight Loma,”

When will Loma be ready people?

And thats why he stays at 140 after the Linares fight ??? No logic here because Mikey will be even bigger then. Team Garcia know that Mikey has only at 140 a chance against Loma. So Loma vs Mikey might happen only in 2-3 years when Loma is a solid 140 pounder.

Loma will fight Beltran in summer then. But first Vargas or Gamboa in April. He needs a big Latino name to get more popular.
