Both fighters are basically unknown champions. That being the case, Mikey chose the fight where he makes the most financially, and possibly picks up a 4th title. That's smart business! I feel sorry for Easter, because he needed a fight with Garcia to build his brand. I think Easter, should he beat Fortuna, should move to 140, and test the waters. At 5'11" he's not gonna get a fight with Mikey, Linares, nor Lomachenko @ 135! He should target the winner of Barthelemy/Relikh 2, or Regis Prograis if he wins, or Omar Figueroa Jr. if he beats Broner!

I think the reason he aint move up yet is because Broner, his friend and promoter, is fighting at 140. Probably when Broner decides to move up to 147 permanently then we'll see Easter moving up.

Hopefully by then Easter has already had at least one unification fight at 135.

Ive been saying for a long time now that Garcia is a fraud. He had offers for Cotto, Easter, Linares and he ends up taking the easiest of the fghts. Then he doesnt disclose his purses so we have no way of knowing whether hes lying about being offered more for these garbage mismatches. Youd think if he were telling the truth hed disclose what hes making. People would understand more if he said "i was offered 1 million for Lipinets and 700 thousand for Easter" but he keeps everything hidden so in my mind he must be lying about the money excuses. Garcia and Thurman got 2 million each for fighting each other but only get a million for tune ups. Boxers always get more for bigger fights. Why would it be any different with Garcia? Hes a fraud

First Mikey would have been required to jump three weight classes to make that fight.

Secondly Golden Boy basically said...here's Cotto, but you have to be our bish if you want this fight.

Mikey fought long and hard, and lost two years of his career so that he can become a free agent. Aint no way you can expect him to tie himself up to Golden Girl after fighting so hard for independence.

I can't call the Man A let down because it's only is 4th fight back from a 2 1/2 year layoff and it's his second title fight.
Don't worry in 2018, he will move back down to LW and whip your favorite Fighters ass

I would have liked to see that fight next, props to Easter. Mikey should handle his business & get that 4th title, move down to 135 & unify the division in 2018. Linares sounds interested Easter sounds interested make that Shyt happen
I wouldn't say Mikey is ducking Easter, heard him saying in numerous interviews he wants unify 135.

Being a "free" agent and all, I think that he is choosing his fights a bit more carefully than Easter because if he gets a loss, it becomes harder to market himself. Losing no belt in a title fight at a higher division is better, methinks, than losing your belt at your own division.

Word. Also, Mikey is a free agent, people seem to forget that. When you're fighting under banner, you can take a loss and get re-promoted easier. Without a banner, its tough. So all props to Mikey for being astute. As I said earlier: Losing no belt in a title fight at a higher division is better, methinks, than losing your belt at your own division.

But I Still feel that Mieky is more solid than Easter at this point and would 70/30 win
