what have bivol and beterbiev done to scare away a legend?

STFU. You live in your imaginary world. No one gave barrera any chance of winning against ward. Barrera is a glorified journeyman.barrera was a darling for a minute...when he was fighting ward......"oh man ward dont wanna pay him ...ward scared...omg JC Penney....ward gonna duck him....barrera a good test for ward at LHW i smell an upset"
then he became a whipping boy when his fight with beterbiev didnt happen
ill give bivol credit...its a good fight for him at his age and career arc....its a tough one....will show us something i thinkComment

i hear what you are saying about wards previous paydays being a reason why he decided not to stick around.....ive said it before in other threads...he aint coming back to face those guys for2 million...its not enough to get him up for those fights when he made like 14 mil in his previous 2 boutsI don't think Ward ducked any one of those. But because of what he was overpayed compared to his market value(and a lot of that gos on Rock Nation also) you COULD make a case that in a way he ducked them all.But I don't think Andre did not believe he could beat everyone of them BUT he knew he was gonna be takin a BIG paycut to risk legacy with a GROUP of tough fighters. And with Ward(and May)the biggest reason he was a star is that he was unbeaten and "the best".Kov could come right back with a big KO over ANY one of those young guys and still be the star he was before he got beat v2wice by Ward.He has the power that brings in more casuals and softcore fans.
but the overpaid angle is one that is a bit played out.....it only takes one team/promo outfit/person to pay you to determine your value.....yeah...when you look at it roc probably overpaid ....but that was their value on ward....and it only takes one team/prom company/person to sign a check that make your value.......ward performed rather well...especially in the 2nd fight....now if ward had gone and pulled a rigo or something you could call him overpaid.....but he performed well and that was his value to roc nation.....and the reality is even bivol, gvozdyk and beterbiev dont bring the same type of star power that even an underwhelming kovalev did(by underwhelming im referring to the numbers ward/kovalev did)....thats not really wards faultComment

My thoughts exactly. I havent seen too many people saying Ward ran from Bivol or Beterbiev or that he retired because he was scared of them.Comment

PEDS, maybe?beterbiev=32 with 12 pro fights wins a vacant title over a guy named enrico kolling
bivol-27 12 pro fights holding an interim title he won from some guy named felix valera
gvozdyk-30 year old..holds some NABUHFQVCHSN belt nobody cares about 14 pro fights
but these guys are supposed to scaring a 33 year old with 32 pro wins across two divisions...winner of the prestigious super 6 tourney(as a the biggest underdog)at SMW...went up to 175 and beat a fellow top 5 p4p fighter who was unbeaten......scaring him into retirement? LOL
but when jermall charlo is the #1 contender for a golovkin belt it becomes "oh man what has charlo ever done to deserve a crack at the belt....hes done nothing...he doesnt deserve it....meanwhile loma is getting belts at fight 3 lol
ok guys...so aside from skin color.....using logic and factual boxing information....what have the big 3 EE LHWs done to deserve a shot at ward that wouldnt warrant charlo getting a shot at golovkin?Comment

he might not be on bivols level.....but the level at which bivol has been fighting on also isnt that impressive.....how many times have we seen a guy blowing away garbage comp and step up and not look so great? its a classic boxing tale......barrera is a different level than what bivol has been fighting for sure......doesnt even need to be said
we will see how good bivol looks...def looking forward to it
but thats not relevant....what have any of those guys done so far to scare ward or deserve a fight with him?
Bivol was Ward's mandatory.
Ward got scared and retired.
If he ever makes a comeback it was a clear duck.
Ward did not clean house at 175lbs, he looked at the division and his mandatory and didn't fancy it.Comment

I think Ward will fight again, sometime this year or next. I'm almost sure of it. However, it won't be for a legacy or challenges. He feels he had already done enough of that. It'd be purely for the money, against someone with a mainstream name appeal.
I won't be surprised.Comment

I think you took my post wrong way I was talking about his MONEY value like from a buis sence. He made 5 for 1st and 6 for 2nd now I think as Top 3 PFP he should be getting 20-5 mil but that's not what he drawes.150-165 for both PPV is worth about 500 thou to a mil tops and that's assuming your opp is getting 250 or so.I think Ward is an ATG and should be paid by his skill but that's not the way it works.Ward for what he brings to table was overpayed.I wish more people could see the skill and want to see best vs best no matter the style but its not that way.I hope it starts to change but tide seems to be running in other direction.I see a dumbing down of the sport kinda going on.i hear what you are saying about wards previous paydays being a reason why he decided not to stick around.....ive said it before in other threads...he aint coming back to face those guys for2 million...its not enough to get him up for those fights when he made like 14 mil in his previous 2 bouts

It would appear Kovalev was indeed the boogeyman that scared Ward into retirement........makes more sense than what you posted.beterbiev=32 with 12 pro fights wins a vacant title over a guy named enrico kolling
