Doesn't the WBA have Oquendo still ranked as the #1 heavyweight contender even though he has not fought in nearly 4 years? LOL

But that's not what they tell the public that they do.

And it's also not what they should be doing. Transparency and fairness should be their #1 priorities.

They work for the promoters. That has never been a secret. They exist as a buffer between promoters who otherwise would not be able to work together.

Why should that be their #1 priority? It's a business. Since when is fairness the #1 priority of business?

Again, that is not the public face they show. Their corrupt behavior might not be a secret to us hardcore boxing fans but the general public doesn't know.

As far as business goes...have you ever heard of a little thing called business ethics? Just because you exist to make a profit DOES NOT give you free reign to screw over and step on people.

The WBA bribery scandal was huge news when Arum went public. It's public record that the WBO was founded by the person Arum was paying the WBA bribes to after the WBA disowned him because of the scandal. The IBF bribery scandal was huge news. The general public is well aware of how corrupt boxing is and it's one of the reasons boxing isn't a mainstream sport anymore.

Nobody screwed over Rigo. He hasn't been active. He's been holding the belt hostage. His mandatory was due. He asked for special permission to avoid his mandatory and fight for a different organization in a different weight class. The WBA said no problem, but if you lose, we're done with you. Rigo said okay. There's no controversy here.

Yes. What an obvious double standard. Why should losing a fight to a champion at 130 cost him his 122 pound title? That's unheard of.

Maybe yes, probably ,or maybe no, but he still quit ...the guy has no heart and no class and he was the best of the Cubans...

Rigo needs to fight at 126 anyone at 122 is just easy work and probably at 126

Rigo is one of my favorites and had a lot going up against him, however; him and his team choose to go up against all odds and take this chance. They knew what they were getting themselves into before the fight. Although I would of like to see him win to solidify a legacy, he took that chance and lost, so there shouldn't be a complaint after the fact.

But this was said prior to the Nomas fight. Not that I think it’s was the right decision then or now but his tea knew this before.
