Maybe, but he's taking a chance to get two good paydays instead of one. If he does beat Bivol, and I think he has a better chance of beating an inexperienced, untested Bivol than Kovalev, then he's the man. Even if he loses against Bivol, he can still fight Kovalev as they have the same promoter

Yea seems like a bad buis move. But gotta love this guy already beat 2 top 10(bottom)guys at time he fought them(shabby,Smith)Valera was no stay busy fight. And now Bivol.Either he "see's somzing"(Shmelling) or he has sparred with Kov and REALLY don't like his chances.Because even though Kov deserves to be rated higher Bivol looks like a handful and is FULL of confidence.Comment

I think it will be hard to sell Kov fight as he is the bigger name after a loss to Bivol then the other way around. If he lost to Kov and at least had some success(even going the dis)then a fight with Bivol could be looked at as a stick to see where Bivol fits.Plus I think Main Events has a piece of all three. Not sure but I think soMaybe, but he's taking a chance to get two good paydays instead of one. Give Barerra credit, he isn't shying away from tough fights. When he is weighing his next opponent between Bivol and Kovalev, what's not to like? I wish Stevenson had even a fraction of his willingness and balls.Comment

Damn these Cubans are SHOOK!
Rigo quitting, Barrera ducking and dodging, and Ortiz testing positive to avoid getting KO'd by Wilder.
I suppose running and quitting is part of the culture, what with trying to leave / escape / RUN from Cuba to make it to the USA.

I wish that for some others also the guy is not afraid of a fight. And even if he gets caught in one round hopfully no one will s hite on him.If you fight all top guys ur gonna lose sometimes unless your a super talent and even then its no shame to lose to other top fighters.Comment

Say what you want about the cheater or even the quitter but signing to fight Bivol IS NOT DUCKING.This guy fights nothing but tough fights give respect where its due at least.Damn these Cubans are SHOOK!

If Barrera loses to Bivol, I don’t see any reason for Kova fighting him. He will look to unify against Bivol, Beterbiev or see how the WBC side of things plays out and go against Stevenson, Jack or Gvozdyk.Maybe, but he's taking a chance to get two good paydays instead of one.
