Fighter of the year does clearly have a linkage to fight of the year. Not really sure why people dismiss the way a fight went as irrelevant (unless it's a wilder fight of course).
Regardless I think a number could have won fighter of the year and with no stand out it's hard to argue the reasonings for it, Joshua was one of them - many good reasons he could be selected.
For fight of the year, I was lucky enough to be there. I struggle to find any others who live near it. I chose not go to froch groves and I regretted it, I was going to let this one slip by and thank god I didn't.
The build up - people say it was an old man etc now but before the fight pundits had it in all directions. KO, points wins in both directions were all feasible. Questions on whether Joshua can last the distance, whether klitschko can return to old, can klitschko take a Joshua punch, what happens if Joshua takes a punch.
The way it played out all of those got answered in a really positive way and every single outcome looked possible at different stages, everyone knows how it went of course.
The real thing that made it for me was the atmosphere though, you can't relive that on tv. "sweet Caroline" - 90'000 singing it - epic. Do other countries have anything similar? Hopefully they do. Joshua's ring walk was good too, the heat from those two letters on fire was unbelievable. Then of course the fight itself.
Sad to see a fighter that old wheeled out for one last fight. Hearn the vulture milking the win for all he can, even though it was just the shell of klitchko they beat.

The way you fan boys talk about Wlad you'd have us believe he came in like a George Foreman lmao
240lb prime Wlad
240lb 41 year old Wlad
220lb Foreman:
250lb Foreman, this is what an actual shot fighter looks like:
Physical condition>Age
If prime Foreman was 250lbs of fat like that he wouldn't perform half as well as he could as when he came in shape. Wlad in 2017 came in at his lightest weight since 2009, 240lbs. Pretending the older Wlad is in any way comparable to the past heavies such as Ali, Tyson, Foreman, Lewis etc. that put on actual fat and let themselves get out of shape is laughable.
There isn't any evidence that being heavier or chubbier is a detriment in heavyweight boxing. No more than there being any evidence that being heavier or chubbier is a detriment in sumo wrestling, or shot put events, or power lifting, or strongman competitions and etc. Different competitions and tasks require different assets. As such, physical aesthetics is irrelevant in heavyweight boxing. Conditioning and level of performance is what's relevant.
Wladimir Klitschko at one of his lightest weights (against Ross Purity) had stamina issues. A heavier Wladimir Klitschko didn't have such issues.
A lighter George Foreman had stamina issues in the 1970's. Such as against Muhammad Ali. A heavier George Foreman in the 1990's had no such issues.
Totally ridiculous to judge a boxer based on how their physique looks, rather than their level of performance and condition.
In heavyweight boxing, physical appearance and weight has very little to do with physical condition.
Salido should of been warned and then deducted points for low blows.
And Loma should of been warned and deducted points for excessive holding. Top of that he then try rip their arm off. He also many times ducked EXTREMLY low like that video I posted earlier.
