The OG Triple G has fought elite competition, including boxing’s current cash cow, and taken damage, but he’s still undefeated. Mad props to him.

He's right to a certain extent. I'm ok with the draw and thought Canelo landed the harder shots. I think Canelo wins the rematch rather easy. GGG only knows how to rush and land his big shots; Canelo knows everything he posses now and should win an easy decision

I have to agree with Danny here, I know Golovkin has a La Motta type chin, but he's also human, and surely that amount of punishment accumulates and ultimately affects your cognitive abilities, which is exactly what GGG needs in the best possible condition if he is to continue to dominate until he finally reaches his goal of capturing the WBO belt.

At this point, it looks as though that won't be even remotely possible until late next year, and Golovkin's dedication to fitness and conditioning, and as far as I know, he's not a big partying type of guy, so that ought to push him beyond the scientific standard for male physical peak fitness at 33-34.

There are two things that seem to me are glaringly obvious about Golovkin's game: lack of bodywork, ( I do think he actually is underrated in terms of boxing skill, it's just when he gets caught off guard he shrugs ) more head movement, and lately he seems to have lost that 'killer instinct' where he seems hesitant and reluctant to go for the finish.

Seriously, who on here thought he let Jacobs and Canelo back into the fight? More so with Jacobs, but there were moments in the Canelo fight where GGG stood at range looking as if he couldn't make his mind up, while Canelo was sitting back on the ropes with his earmuffs on.

I see the rematch with Canelo coming in wiser and more confident, whereas Golovkin has a choice: Fire Sanchez and get a more suitable trainer like Freddie Roach etc... someone who focuses on your strengths rather than Sanchez's overly scientific approach coupled with trying to change his fighters style.

If he stays with Abel than he needs to analyse his last two fights and work hard on developing a better all-around game.

I agree, but I also think Golovkin has the opportunity to surprise Canelo by dispensing with the slowish pressure and winging big shots; If he came out faster, throwing short sharp combos, adding some movement, I think Canelo would be surprised. I hope.

some good points there, but most of that is due to the level of his recent opposition

it is easy to look great against guys who make it easy for you

I don't believe GGG ducked 'everyone' until Jacobs. How can that be true for a guy who fought 3-4 times a year, collects four belts, fights contenders, gatekeepers, titlists, and multiple titlists (Daniel Geale) before fighting Jacobs?

And let's please not forget the WBC and Canelo 'marination' BS.

At the very most I would believe Golovkin may have picked opponents who he felt confident in beating, rather than 'no way I'm gonna fight that guy.'

This is simply tall poppy syndrome.

Not picking a fight, just simply disagreeing. Cheers.

Canelo gave GGG angles with his movement but I observed that any time Canelo becomes stationary, he landed clean and hard two or three shots at GGG.
A rematch will let us know which of the two is a quick learner that can vary his game plan.

That is a very fair point and makes perfect sense. I remember Jacobs refusing to way in on the IBF's (now defunct) obligatory same day weight in requirement to fight for their belt and he refused- which suggests he could have been weighing as high as 180, (which I know is the upper extreme), but he was certainly a helluva lot bigger than G that night.

I also fear Canelo will beat GGG in their next fight, as Golovkin does not seem to cope well with relative inactivity.

                  Kudos

problem is ggg outlanded him 2 to 1(video breakdown proved this) so even if the average canelo punch was harder its a big obstacle to overcome. meanwhile pac and floyd landed the exact same number of punches(video breakdown proved this) cept pacs were all flush and hard while floyds were almost all little taps and grazes cept floyd walked away with a decision. its all politics and nothing more. these guys fight not to get knocked out.

the level of opposition made it look like he took punishments.
Of course, Canelo & Jacobs had only lost one each with over 70 combined wins.
they are both young and active fighters.
