When a guy two divisions lower is the toughest test for a 34 year old, something is wrong. He refused to fight Canelo at 158, and Ward at 164, even though he repeatedly claimed anyone from 154-168. Get out of here, man, Saunders has been beating the same guys, and G has made excuses. Anyone from 154-168. Then when Ward answered, he said no, he would only fight at any weight that wasn't 160 for a bigger fight. Well, Canelo is the biggest draw today, and then G said no, he wants to unify titles. Then he fought Jacobs, and knew the judges could have easily given it to Jacobs. Then Charlo moved up and became G's mandatory. Then G finally agreed to fight Canelo. Yea, yea, stick up for your boy, a 34 year old, had a belt for five years and his toughest fight was someone two divisions smaller. Any real fan of boxing would not be sticking up for that. Thank goodness Jacobs came back and Charlo moved up, otherwise it would be more bums.

Golovkin earned his titles by beating the best possible opponents available. It doesn't matter how many titles he took from anyone. Is it now his fault that no champion was available at the time when he was attempting to win the titles? Perhaps they avoided him by vacating their titles? In other words, if champions vacate their titles and the contenders win those titles, then the new champion can't be blamed. It's totally ridiculous! If you're going to blame anybody, then perhaps blame those former champions who vacated their titles.

As for those boxers who he never challenged. Golovkin was the champion at 160 pounds and the owner of most belts. Thus, it is up to them to challenge him by earning their mandatory / number one shot, rather than Golovkin's job to challenge them.

So why didn't the likes of Cotto, Marravila or Ward earn their mandatory position for Golovkin's titles? That's the question that has to be asked!

As for bouts in other weight divisions. You do realize that Golivkin's potential performances and bouts in other weight divisions have no relevance to his quality and worth as a middleweight at 160 pounds? I've never claimed he was the greatest super middleweight, or light middleweight, or catch weight boxer. My point is, at 160 pounds, he has been the best boxer of this current era. His record proves this! As such, he is an ATG at 160 pounds because to become one, one only needs to be the best of their own era / generation as far as I'm concerned.

I don't care that Golovkin refused to fight other boxers in different weight divisions since I'm not judging / evaluating his worth / quality as a boxer of those weight divisions, but a boxer at 160 pounds. As such, how can you blame Golovkin for avoiding / ducking bouts against opponents at specifically 160 pounds / middleweight?
