Lots of great fights this year but most were involved in one. Joshua unified heavyweight against klistchko - who had been unbeaten in a decade at the top of the game up until the fury fight. Backed up with a relatively clear cut (albeit less clinical) takam win.

Hardly a slam dunk this year but equally you can’t really argue as no one else stood out. What Joshua has done (in the uk in particular) is pull out casual fans into liking boxing again. Not only that he managed to sell 150,000 tickets (and could’ve sold many more). If he ends up doing the 3 match plan of hearns (Parker, wilder, fury) he could top it in 2018. Obviously has to get deals
Done and win fights first though!

Crawford why who did he beat? Diaz? (gatekeeper), Indongo (most flawed wc ever alongside Sam Soliman).

And who did Loma beat? Journeymen and a guy two weights below that is almost 40.

AJ didn't deserve it either, Rungvisai did.

That's just hating. There were 4 legit winners - Joshua, Loma, Crawford and Mikey Garcia.

Joshua is bigger than all of them and sold more tickets in 2 fights in 2017 than the other 3 sold in their entire careers - combined.

He got the biggest, most talked about win of 2017.

Loma a great fighter, but he beat a super bantamweight, a featherweight coming off a loss and a club fighter in Sosa.

Garcia and Crawford had bigger claims to FOTY than he did.

Debatable. Joshua beat a 41 year old Wlad while Loma beat a 37 year old Rigo jumping up 2 weight divisions. Very comparable feats.

But Joshua's fight was much more high profile and a much bigger event for the casuals than Loma/Rigo. Fact is along with Canelo, Joshua is the face of boxing at the moment. Which is a shame, Loma is a special fighter.

Crawford unified his division for real. All four belts.

Joshua still needs the WBO and WBC belts.
