Match the offer? Haymon was the one that convinced Hearn to make the offer. You think Hearn just woke up one day and wanted to have to spend $6 million and sign away several of AJ's defenses? Haymon masterminded that entire deal. Nobody else on the planet would have been able to orchestrate that kind of score for Charles ****ing Martin.
If Wilder didn't want to fight Povetkin, Haymon would have set up a fight with Martin, easy. And Haymon would have never agreed to sell the IBF belt unless he was supremely confident Wilder would retain the WBC against Povetkin.
This isn't about pride. This is about logic. Haymon is the puppet master. The belts go where he wants them to go. He wouldn't have sold the IBF title if he needed it for Wilder.

But you know that anyway. Your pride won't allow you to acknowledge it.
