That doesn't make sense because that isn't what I said. What I was saying was that Whyte's promoter is trying to talk Whyte into a title shot rather than have his fighter beat quality guys to earn it. The best guy Whyte has ever beaten was Robert Helenius and that fight was boring as hell.

Taking Ortiz for (presumably) less money and then saying he is a tougher opponent simply doesn't add up.
Luis Ortiz is without a doubt the much tougher opponent.

Whyte, if easier, and paying more money....why not? Please explain.
Because its a meaningless fight. The guys sole qualification is having lasted 7 rounds with Anthony Joshua.

I disagree that it is meaningless. He is far more credible than some of the chumps Wilder has fought, but te bigger point is, it shows Wilder fears the Whyte fight because he won;t take it even for MORE money - that bit still suggests Wilder agrees that DW is risky.

I like Wilder btw, he's dangerous for anyone and is unpredictable with his unorthodox shots, but I make Ortiz his toughest opponent, we will learn some things about Wilder I thik.

Can't believe that fight is only 6 weeks away

Based upon what? Lasting 7 rounds with Anthony Joshua?

No it doesn't because it assumes Eddie Hearn isn't talking out his a$$ about the money.

I like Wilder too. I just don't like people talking ***** about someone without real justification.

We both know that Wilder is no different to any other boxer in that he has already taken meaningless fights.

Besides, this is not a meaningless fight. It raises Wilder's presence in the UK, which is the money, and seeing as Wilder is supposedly on a collision couse with AJ, that would be good. It's also a common opponent who is very durable, and pays Wilder more money. It's a duck.

All fighters have taken meaningless fights. But we should expect them to take steps up and not remain stagnant. A fight with Whyte isn't a step forward.

Fighting anyone in England would raise Wilder's presence in England. No reason for Eddie Hearn to demand Wilder face his fighter in order to possibly get a shot at Joshua. I would much rather see Wilder fight someone like Hughie Fury considering some people think he beat Joseph Parker in their fight, it would do the job of raising Wilder's profile in England and it would set up more of a storyline for a possible fight with a returning Tyson Fury. Hell, if David Haye bounces back and beats Tony Bellew in their rematch he would be a more attractive fight as well.

Hell, Alexander Povetkin is fighting David Price in England before he gets a shot at Joshua. David Price is talented but chinny, has the gas tank of a muscle car that has been used for target practice by a local swat team and the boxing IQ of a corpse. Why didn't Dillian Whyte get that fight? He was available. He's only fighting one week earlier. But no, Hearn preferred him fight Lucas Browne.

It isn't a duck. Its not letting Eddie Hearn talk his way into getting an fighter he promotes a title shot he doesn't deserve.

C'mon man, you don't really think Hughie Fury is a better fighter than Whyte?

Whyte Vs Povetkin is a better match than Price Vs Pov, we agree on that. But that is more an indictment of Povetkin's side than it is of Price's.

              Whyte would beat Parker imo.

I don't care if he is. I think they both are mediocre. But at least he's not Anthony Joshua's sloppy seconds and creates a compelling revenge storyline for an eventual fight with Tyson Fury.

The fact that Povetkin got chinny McGee instead of Whyte to build his name up for Joshua shows that Eddie Hearn was just trying to push Whyte into a title shot he didn't deserve.

                • Whyte is ranked high with all the rankings, he is quite possibly going to become mandatory for the WBC (or at very least have a eliminator with breazeale).

To me, it’s fairly common sense for Wilder to fight Whyte. People make out like Eddie Hearn is trying to make $, but that’s his job. In general the only way to make those $ is to make fights that work, and whyte wilder is a good fight. Wilder has been rocked by less fighters already and given his resume is obviously keen to not take on a risky fight ahead of any massive payday against Joshua.

If he does really trust his own ability though beating whyte would really ramp up the profile of the fight with Joshua - infact it will be a constant talk ahead of the fight. I don’t think that talk would be the same against any other British fighter.

As dor Tyson Fury, that will only happen if Joshua has fought fury first. Tyson isn’t going to take wilder on first as financially it makes no sense at all to either fighter. In the scenario they fight after Joshua fury has already taken place then hat would already have built it up aitomatically, I don’t think a hughie (boring) fury storyline helps at all. I’m not sure it would with Joshua either.
