Exactly the point of why unless big money comes from somewhere it won’t happen in America. You lose the uk Ppv and probably can’t do it in America Ppv (or risk very limited sales).Yet Floyd/Mac shattered that 1.6 mil to become the biggest PPV fight in UK history. Add to that that the PPV more than likely started around 5 A.M in the UK.
But somehow ppl think AJ is a big PPV star selling millions. UK fans have no choice but to pay PPV if they want to see an AJ fight while here in the US, its free to watch him and he barely does around 380k views.
Remember that fight included the MMA fans, it was a completely different beast of a fight. Joshua has a very casual fanbase.Last edited by Kezzer; 12-28-2017, 05:09 PM.Comment

wow that is really pathetic...I was in Laval last week a suburb of Montreal it was -20C outside and snowing, went to see the Saunders - Lemieux fight. Place Bell is an AHL rink that seats 10 000...I did not notice an empty seat.I'm actually chortling to death here over the fact that bias American fans continue to act as if Beyonce is some plug-in PPV star in Vegas. "Beyonce v. Joshua 50/50 in Vegas - and Joshua should thank Beyonce for getting him all that US PPV money"
LOL do you realize how demented you Americans seem?
"Wilder is the proud owner of a world heavyweight title after turning in a superb performance in a one-sided decision victory against Bermane Stiverne on Saturday night before 8,454 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena." ESPN.com
Couldn't even sell 9,000 tickets at the MGM for a WBC title fight
And he sold 0 PPVs for the fight.Comment

The fight will be in the US, you can count on that. And I will be right there in Vegas when it happens. UK fans are delusional to think AJ and Hearn would state a Wilder/Joshua fight in a country that is slightly bigger than California. Hearn knows the fight will make more money in the US. Both with SKY PPV and US PPV plus all the revenue from ticket sales and the casino site fee.Comment

Based on current popularity the obvious thing is to do the fight in Wembley with a possible rematch in Vegas. If the fight is delayed enough for build up of both fighters going straight to Vegas is more doable, but more realistic for 2019 than 2018 in my opinion (I actually think 2019 is more likely anyway)The fight will be in the US, you can count on that. That’s far from Mayweather or even Paquioa numbers, these delusional AJ fans are still drunk from the mismatch Takum fight!Just checked figures:
AJ vs Takam -
Showtime 334k live / 309k replay
UK PPV - c.800k (not released but sky sports did say at the time around this figure)
AJ vs Klitschko
Showtime - 659k , HBO (replay) 738k
UK PPV - >1.6 mil (not released but hearn did confirm above this number)
AJ previous 3 fights (Molina, Breazeale and Martin) were understood to have been around 300-350k Ppv sales in uk.Comment

HBO on Saturday nights usually premiers a new movie as a lead in to HBO championship boxing. That helps the numbers a lot. Look at the numbers Stevenson was doing on HBO and compare them to his numbers on Showtime. Canelo, Danny Garcia, Adrien Broner the list goes on and on.Comment

That’s why they believe having the fight in the US maximizes the profits. They believe the UK PPV will be there regardless of where the fight is. Data proves that afternoon PPV events in the US don’t do as well as PPV events on Saturday nights.I think people under estimate how popular Joshua is in the uk. He already gets over one million, unification against Parker is likely to double that at least. If you end up in at unification for all 5 belts - hard to say but likely 3 mil +. Also don’t always take into consideration the individual fee, Sky charge pubs ridiculous amounts - and the uk obviously has a lot of pubs which would show it.Comment
