What meant was .. if a fighter weighs in even 1 gram over 154 for a SWW/JMW title fight they will be ruled overweight for that division and disqualified from fighting for the title.

I don't think there was anything the WBC could have done to stop Martinez, Cotto and Canelo from defending their title at catchweights.

The rules of boxing allow fighters to weigh in at whatever weight they want, under the divisional limit, for title fights.

Catchweights are a separate, private arrangement between the 2 fighters and their teams, not recognised by governing bodies and sanctioning orgs.

wbc allowed fighters with zero experience at the weight class to get a straight shot at their MW title, that is what created all the mess, it got to a point where khan could had been crowned MW champ and then he could have defended his title vs a junior welterweight... im EXAGERATING CUZ KHAN HAD NO CHANCE AT ALL, but he was in the mix too..
the problem wasnt the weight or the CWs, the problem was the challengers for the title... wbc allowed all of this mess cuz of all the big names and money involved...

so..... Canelo has a better middleweight record than Golovkin, in his first fight at 160..... Golovkin's best result is an asterisk over Danny Jacobs..... but Canelo's best result is an asterisk over Golovkin

if Canelo beats Golovkin, then beats either Jacobs/Saunders..... he will have eclipsed Golovkin's entire career in 1 calendar year
