Sorry Danny, but taking a fight (your first since your loss to Thurman) with Brandon Rios is not going to spring board you into the top of the division no matter how impressive. Let's face it, Brandon's a fan favorite among boxing followers, you really can't help but to like the guy, but he is a gate-keeper and a complete waste of time fight for a supposed "top level" fighter DG claims to be. He's had plenty of recovery time from his loss to Thurman and now it's time for him to get back in the saddle once again and face top competition. Regressing with b/c level fights at this point does nothing for his career but squander his time.Comment

I was thinking that. He’s hardly a come-forward fighter. Got on his bike against Matthysse, and still didn’t go for the KO even though Lucas was blind.Comment

Seems as though Danny is as deluded as his old man. His job isn't boxing....His real job is cherry picking.Comment

Rios is completely shot at this point. Garcia is just trying to appear "active" at this point and wants to take advantage of a beatable "name" opponent.Comment

Danny is definitely a good fighter, but I think his best days are behind him. No matter if people think he beat Peterson or not, he was truly exposed in that fight. He will always be competitive and beat all C class fighters like Rios. But at this point, he will never beat the top guys at 147. If Thurman had chose to open up on him in that last fight, I believe he knocks Danny out. The fight was only close because Keith didn't close the show like an A class fighter is suppose to do. He was content on just cruising those last few rounds. I think Spence is too big, skilled, and aggressive for Danny as well. A fight with Crawford and Porter will be exciting and classical, but those are fights Danny will not win. Crawford is too skilled and versatile and Porter is just too wild and aggressive. Danny does not have the power, size, or skill to keep Porter off of him. The reality is, at this stage, Jeff Horn would present a serious threat to him. Jeff is big, aggressive, and tough with an average skill set, but still the most beatable for Danny. Danny has done good for himself. I hope he gets a few more good paydays. He was elite at 140 hands down. He just does not have the complete tools it will take to be elite at welterweight.Comment

wtf. thurman sqeaked his way to a split decision win. nobody would be upset had danny won that. it was that close. so garcia is right up there with all those guys you mentioned. hes an elite welter. period. and crawford hasn't done a damn thing at 147 yet why even include him.Comment
