  • Comments Thread For: Horn Expects To Fight in April, Won't Confirm Crawford as Foe

WBO welterweight champion Jeff Horn (18-0-1, 12 KOs) expects to fight by April of next year, but he won't confirm if Terence Crawford (32-0, 23 KOs) will be the actual opponent in the other corner. Crawford, who unified the entire junior welterweight division, has been listed down as the mandatory challenger to Horn's title by the World Boxing Organization.

Only a fool would choose to fight a tougher fight for less money. Why fight Crawford for 2 cents when you can make millions fighting Mundane and other fighters. There are no freebies in boxing and Arum would have to find money somewhere for Horn if he wants that fight to happen. Crawford needs to learn how to sell fights instead of just being all about boxing. Boxing is a business and his handlers should get him on Dancing with him the stars, some jungle **** like Amir Khan did and other avenues to make him more marketable. It's not all about winning in the ring, people have to be prepared to pay to watch you fight. BTW I am Crawford's biggest fan.

Mundine is still a big draw in AUS, this fight makes a lot of sense. Crawford can pad his record whilst waiting for the payday against Horn.

Think he'll get stripped if its not Crawford in April. During Corcoran fight it was said he had issues making weight, I was thinking at the time hes gunna drop the belt and move up, thought he was gunna go for Ali, now this Mundine stuff makes even more sense.

Hand over belt now, hand over belt later. (Shrug)

                This board is straight comedy.

Horn fights Mundine: "he ducking Crawford"

                BUT

Horn fights Crawford in Australia: "he's gonna rob Crawford"

But it sounds like it might be a done deal: http://metro.co.uk/2017/12/23/jeff-h...moter-7181792/

The man can't win for nothing though. Whatever happened to the good old days of, the A-Side chooses the venue, the B-Side needs to do what Spence and Floyd once did, show up and take care of business? Why does Crawford need an advantage? If he's as good as many of us think he is, it shouldn't matter where or when Horn fights him. Crawford's switching between orthodox and southpaw creates problems for Horn, guaranteed. Let's just have it in Brisbane again so the money's there. Horn alone wants $5 million, there's no way they're getting that AND Crawford's payday fighting in the US. It's too soon to try to get Horn over with Americans. Let him beat Crawford, THEN take a soft touch in the US.

Plus it will set to rest the question of whether Manny was just washed up, or if he just met his match. Because even in loss, if Jeff "The Hornet" Horn takes Terrence Crawford the distance and wins more than 4 rounds, it debunks that theory - and Horn is just better than people thought he was.

Sometimes domestic dust ups are better business than some international stars. As a boxing fan of course I would love the Crawford fight but naturally Horn has to make a living. Crawford can potentially end this guy's career so let him make money.

What are you talking about Crawford gets some of the best t.v. ratings in boxing. Crawford vs Diaz was the most viewed fight on Hbo this year. Crawford does sell fights, just because he doesnt act like a buffoon like Broner doesnt mean hes not media friendly. Crawford is Horns mandatory and even if he has until July I dont think thats enough time to negotiate and train for a fight with Crawford after he fights Mundine. If he wants to keep the belt he has to fight Crawford thats the bottom line so he might have to fight Crawford in April or we'll never hear from Jeff Horn again. Im sure Bob will pay him good too, especially if its in Australia Crawford and Horn would probably make a few million each
