Evander Holyfield's The Real Deal Boxing has announced a World Boxing Council Welterweight Tournament over three spectacular events in 2018 at a site to be determined. I like the idea of an extra round if it's a draw. Am I reading the numbers right, the guaranteed purse is 15K? Can't see many top welterweights getting excited by that.

More tournaments are a good thing for boxing.

But as others are saying the purses are too small to attract the big dogs.

I could be wrong but I think this is more aimed at guys ranked around the 20-40 mark, I mean apart from the purse the prize seemed to be a high ranking not a title shot... should be a good thing, gets guys names out there

I agree 100%. This is a great initiative to raise visibility of some not so popular but good fighters. I will definitely watch it every time I get a chance. We should see some great sc****s, less running and more blood
