He only lost one of those fights you mentioned. To the undefeated Andre Ward.

Why should getting dropped yet continuing to win regardless force him to accept a crappy payday?

Continuing to win against who though? Vyacheslav Shabranskyy, Joe Smith Jr., and Felix Valera?

Also how is 300-400K a crappy payday? You think Sullivan Barrera deserves more for Kovalev than Rigondeaux got for Lomachenko? Why?

Gvozdyk is pursuing the WBC route for a possible eliminator against Alvarez to hopefully face Stevenson later...

So your comment is wrong. Not Kovalev’s fault, and he’s staying busy in the meantime...
You do understand that is not about a pair? He is feeling low balled. getting a belt will help him get pay. It will be a unification bout. He should have more leverage if it goes into the fight as a Champ. Am pretty sure it is about money and not balls. He is betting on himself and I can applaud him for that.

Most fans here didn't give him a chance against those fighters. shabransky was supposed him to win by ko, same about smith. So I don't see your point. kovalev just fought shabransky for a belt. valera fought bivol for the belt too.

and yes, the same Barrera that KO shabransky, broke smith jaw, if I recall correctly, and put down valera and dominated the whole fight. Only losing to Ward...

He can fight Bivol and win or lose the Kovalev fight will still be there after.

If he fights Kovalev for 300-400K instead then he likely loses his WBA mandatory spot and the Bivol fight goes away.

The WBA skipped over Barrera once already, when Badou Jack relinquished the belt. It should have been him (#2) vs Bivol (#1) for the vacant title. Not Bivol vs Trent Broadhurst(#11.)

At this point he's just being smart and maximizing his earnings potential.

Kovalev steamrolled Shabranskyy in 2. Got no credit. Was criticized for even taking the fight.

Barrera got dropped by Shabranskyy and took 7 rounds to get him out of there. And you want to give credit to Barrera? Please stop.

Felix Valera is sloppy and was already taken to school by Bivol for a meaningless interim belt when the WBA had 3 champs in practically every division. Valera is not a meaningful name on anyone's resume.

Joe Smith Jr. is a decent win even though Joe is extremely limited. Still Joe had two very nice wins going into that fight. Had Barrera looking sloppy drunk in the 1st but Barrera recovered nicely, broke his jaw, and won every second of every round after that.

shabransky can crack and kovalev fought him after Barrera beat him up. They are big men and anyone that get caught can go down. You guys are to caught up with knock downs. Trinidad used to go down every other fight. The only things those knock downs did was, wake him up. He didn't get credit because he could had fought someone else, not a fighter coming back from a ko. I did gave him credit because he was also, coming from a ko loss too.
