Agree. Though I think Roy must’ve had great fundamentals at a very young stage, but as he developed he would’ve figured out what he could drop to develop his super athletic style. It’s insane that he could school people without even using a jab.

Especially in the heavier weights where good trainers seem really hard to come by
I haven’t read all the comments, so someone may have already touched upon this. But the problem Roy tends to have as a trainer is everything came so natural to him. He’s arguably the most naturally gifted fighter ever. Literally any fighter he trains will not be blessed with anywhere near the same physical attributes he possessed. RJJ never really had to cautiously follow a game plan to win a fight as his insane speed, reflexes, timing etc etc. during his prime where always more than enough to outbox, and pretty much dominate his opponents.
It’s alright telling a fighter what to do but telling him how to do it is a completely different prospect. I remember watching him in Pascals corner, I can’t remember the exact fight,(think it was Kovalev) he was giving Pascal good advice and ideas of what to do to be effective against his opponent but Pascal simply didn’t have the capabilities to pull it off.
Roy has a great passion and great mind for boxing but
it will always be difficult for Roy to relate to more conventional fighters he was so uniquely talented compared to all other fighters.
