Smart move to go after a untested and unheralded Bivol who could come up short due to his inexperience but the kid is smooth and fights smart!

Kov would've broke Barrera, unlike Joe Smith..Kov knows how to throw shots down the middle and keep his power going!

I think Bivol bit off more than he can chew and will lose to the Cuban!

Barrera keeps turning down fights against Kova. Beterbiev is injured, inactive or doing whatever the hell he’s doing besides fighting, Gvozdyk is looking at a WBC eliminator against Alvarez, and Stevenson is probably going to fight Jack.

      Kovalev ducking doe.

If he wins the title then he will get the last laugh. Then it would be title for title and they would have to offer him more. Like it or not it give him more options if he is successful. He can still fight Kovalev if he loses (who else is he going to fight?). I can't knock a guy for betting on himself.

If he fought Kovalev and won the title, then he could still fight Bivol and make even more money then. That would also be betting on himself. So what you said does not explain why he fought Bivol instead of Kovalev, when the same logic would hold true if he did it in the opposite order. And since the only fight that is guaranteed is this next one, it doesn't explain why he took the lower payday first. What if he loses?

Same people that said Ward was lowballing paying Barrera 450k will defend Kovalev.

So either Barrera doesn't think he qualifies as good opposition, or he makes no sense.
The rematch is if Kovalev loses not Barrera.

Kovalev is a bigger money fight. Beating Bivol and then getting a bigger split vs Kovalev will be more money for him.

It's an embarassing statement by a guy that has ducked Kovalev twice now. Nothing golden about it.

Who said that? And he fought Ward. He didn't decline.

Lots of people, mostly Golovkin fans. Barrera was complaining about the money at first and they were saying Ward was lowballing him.
