    Tarver's Big Problem

He's an entertainer first and a boxer second. Hopkins is completely the opposite. Hopkins and Mayweather are so good for the sport because they never **** around. They are all business and they are gym ****. Tarver chose Hollywood over a huge opportunity in the ring against Hopkins, and the weight he had to lose (twice what Jones had to lose to fight Tarver in 03) ultimately killed him. I have mad respect for Hopkins and he deserves the time off he's finally going to get in retirement. Job well done and another hard lesson learned for Tarver, who continues to come off a big win with a big dissapointment.

Roy Jones will never step in the ring with Hopkins again, I guarantee that.

Diego, Antonio Tarver's weight loss is not an issue. Quit being so biased and maybe your posts will be worth reading.

i'm not so sure about that, remember how sure you were that tarver would win? haha i had to do it man, anyways jones was really eager to fight hopkins earlier this year, so he'll probably think that when they fight hopkins will be even older. he'll take comfort in the fact that he beat him years ago, although logic would say that that sort of thinking is ****** because hopkins has improved SO much since then, but roy's decision to keep fighting and saying things like "the old roy jones is comming back" isn't too logical either.

Cant part of the blame be pointed to the fact that Tarver simply did not have a gameplan ? Stalking your opponent looking to land one big punch and eating Hopkins right hands all nite long will take its toll. The guy was depending on one punch the whole fight and took a systematic beating from Hopkins. Pointing THE WHOLE blame on the weight loss is ******. He lossed more fat than he did muscle which would not have slowed him down AS MUCH.

Tarver could've probably beat the green Hopkins of 13 years ago, Hopkins of the last 5 or 6 years is another fighter, this guy has better skills & he's 10 times smarter then he was 13 years ago.

Hopkins is like fine Wine, he gets better with age. I think he should retire with this win, let me just tell you guys something you will never in your life time will see a fighter this good at the age of 35-41, period!

I think he probably spent his entire camp working with a trainer to come down in weight, and probably not a lot of time sparring and working on a way to beat Hopkins. I think losing the extra muscle was probably more difficult than he made it seem. He seemed a bit fat around the middle from the Rocky pics I saw, but he had a good amount of muscle to come off as well. I was hoping he'd get his ass schooled in this fight, so I can't wait to watch it. He talked so much **** about Roy Jones and the weight issue, and made such a big deal about excuses that he failed to realize what Roy Jones said was true, and now he's had to learn the hard way. That said, Hopkins is an amazing technical fighter, not a reflex fighter like Roy, and I don't think Tarver had every faced someone like that. I can't wait to watch this.
