Only to people who just read boxrec, and don’t actually know who these guys Ali, SRR, Armstrong etc beat.
He’s on the fringe of top 5 at best.
It is subjective, so there is no definite answer but Floyds resume is not near the level of SRR’s, Armstrong’s or Ali’s

ali was transcendent and all that but in the ring, no one did it like floyd did for almost 3 decades.

edit: and the DC warrior demarcus corley, cat has fought them all and is still fighting, he's like 70 fights in.

That's why i never really compare fighters from now and a long time ago. There's way too many factors involved.

If you take any sport that has a definitive measurement of records, like athletics, then records continue to be broken all the time because athletes just keep getting faster and stronger and more skilled. Boxing is the same, we just have no definitive way of measuring, so it becomes opinion based. One would have to be naive or ****** to believe boxing is the only sport where people from 50 years ago were better than now, if you make a direct comparison.

Drop a top fighter from the 50's, as they were then, into a fight with a top fighter today and the 50's fighter would get the p1ss beaten out of them in a round. Like if you put Carl Lewis and his best 100m against the best times of likes of Bolt, Gatlin, Gay etc. in 100m, Lewis would look like a carthorse in comparison, but in his day it looked like he was flying.

Now, give the fighter from the 50's all todays training methods, boxing knowledge and styles gathered over the years, advanced diet and conditioning knowledge etc. etc. and then it would be a different story of course.

There's just too many factors involved to make a fair comparison. That's why all you can be is the best of your time.

One thing though is that fighters used to fight more often and were more of a full-time athletes and there were more top fighters in general so the sparring and activity was so much better and often so they were able to hone their skills more than today's 1 or 2 lucky if it's 3 times a year.

                    Hector Camacho wasn't too shabby:

Roberto Duran(twice), Sugar Ray Leonard, Edwin Rosario, Bazooka Limon, Cornelius Boza-Edwards.

Henry Armstrong beat alot of title holders, past title holders and future champions. That's when there were fewer divisions and probably less sanctioning bodies. I got this list of present past and future champions he beat from Wikipedia. Probably missed some . There were lots of top contenders he beat that might have held a title with the extra divisions we have today.

                      Former flyweight champion Midget Wolgast
                      Featherweight Champion Baby Arizmendi
                      Welterweight champion Barney Ross
                      Lightweight Champion Lou Amber's
                      Juan Zurita
                      Frankie Klick
                      Benny Bass
                      Petey Sarron
                      Chalky Wright
                      Ceferino Garcia
                      Tippy Larkin
