This the right mindset to have. Casuals would like to see him rush back and get spanked when not ready. Promoters would like to see him rush back and make money off his name in an unfair contest. That isn't going to happen though. I'd have no problem with him taking only tune-ups in 2018. Hell, why not fight Bermane Stiverne?

Stifferne, or any of the other stiffs Wilder has fought since winning his title, would all be nice easy tune-ups to ease Tyson back into form.

Honestly don’t think there could be any argument about resume after Joshua v Parker. If Joshua wins that then he’ll have won 2 unification fights which in this day and age is an achievement. If Parker wins he’ll have beaten an undefeated heavyweight champion.

Make no mistake though if Wilder does fight and beat Ortiz that’d be one hell of a scalp... but that in itself is gonna, and should get, the same level of detractors Joshua gets for beating Klitschko considering both Klitschko and Ortiz are old and have been inactive.

As for Fury... he is right not to rush back into tough fights after all his issues... but it does make him look like a mug when he calls all the current champions peasants and talks as if he’s so much better that he’d beat them all easy. If they were all so easy fights for him he’d rush in for the big money and claim all the titles back ASAP, tis just deep down he knows he will have to be at the top of his game to beat the current crop of champions.

Fury is rightfully, still the lineal HW champion, but I think he is waaaaaayyyy over rated. Look at his path to wlad.

14-2 part time taxi driver Martian Rogan.

            Club fighter vinny maddolone.

Way undersized Steve Cunningham, that dropped Fury like a bad habit.

            A washed up Kevin Johnson.

            C level Joey able.

I do give him credit for the second chisora win though.

            Undersized, B level Christian Hammer.

THAT'S who got him to Klitschko. Smh

And the Klitschko win, was Fury doing a good job of cracking Wlads weak psyche. Wlad is the worst shyt talker, and shyt talk taker, in the history of boxing. As all the greats will tell you, boxing is 90% psychological, and Fury easily won that battle.

I rank AJ, Wilder, and Ortiz above Fury, and maybe Parker too.

I'm still hoping that Ortiz beats them all. The Jennings beat down made me a big fan. Plus Ortiz has a great chin, so its going to take Wilder and AJ level power to really test it. Ortiz will walk through Parker and furys shots, with no problem.

Yeah Probably AJ and Wilder, but Povetkin is a midget (in heavyweight terms) and would eat fury’s jab all night, and Ortiz...he’s got power and is a decent technician but he’s way way too slow and a fully fit fury would dance around him all night.

Sensible comments from fury, dont see how anyone can expect or even think he will fight a credible fighter after such a lay off.

Tyson Fury has squandered away millions via his ******ity

How Dumb is Tyson Fury losing countless millions by not fighting. Agreed Tyson isn't that good but money is money. Fight Parker and Wilder and avoid Joshua.

Exactly like I said earlier. Fans need to learn the difference between trash talk and the boundaries of realism here. There’s no way in hell that Fury disappears for over two years and gets in the worst shape imaginable, starts training again and walks right into a crowd of credible names. Weather he says so or not, he was always gonna need a long long time in the gym and a touch up fight or two. Trash talk - reality.

Not trying to overly defend Fury here but let’s face it, if we took every example of fighters trash talk we’d be looking at a very different landscape in all aspects of the sport.

I think Fury needs big fights to stay motivated to train and keep in shape.

Maybe a tune up, but no more.

Otherwise he will start to look like he is making excuses like David Haye does all the time.
