He can afford to retire because he was a free agent, on the flip side he’d have a longer career if he had a good agent because they do pay attention to contract small print and scouting sufficiently

Warren on the other hand took a gamble with all these marquee signings and it's not really going that great. So much for a respectable promotion rival. It might get worse soon with Saunders vs Lemieux.
Say what you want about Hearn but his fighters make money. **** average fighters like bellew and corrola are millionaires because of him. Under most other promoters they would've floundered.

As confirmed by Warren himself on the Box Nation broadcast right after Degale's fight, Degale signed with Warren as a "one off" for this fight. Either Warren of Haymon (yes, as said on the broadcast, Haymon still manages Degale) dropped the ball on the rematch clause. But doesn't it really matter since Truax is with Haymon also? Haymon can make the rematch happen at the end of the day.

          Hearn is right.

DeGale got greedy and lazy by trying to whore himself out for money rather than sticking to a promoter and commiting himself to a 18/24 month path.

He might have been a regular PPV star if he had. Now his best chance is a fight with the Groves/Eubank loser.

And for people saying Hearn protects his fighters for his own financial gain at the expense of their career prospects?

Check out Brook and Campbell just this year alone being allowed to go for tough fights in the US.

Selby still with Haymon and just signed a deal with Warren aswell. I really doubt Degale would have lost if he was signed with Warren aswell, the fight was set up for a robbery, I was goddamned shocked when Truax got it.

Anyway Truax has said he'll give Degale a rematch, wants paying though.

Yep no rematch clause. How that happened I would never know. I guess he would ask for the favour back but he dropped a massive ball there. I think the only person that doesn’t do rematch clauses is Mayweather and we all know why.

Brook hasn't fought in the US since 2014. Plus Brook spent 10+ years fighting euro bums. Hearn protected him for all those years and was trying to protect him from fighting Spence. Look at who Degale has fought last few fights.

He has dropped a bollock indeed.

Obviously they thought it was an easy comeback fight but even then any business savvy person would have a rematch clause because anything could go wrong. Hearn would have had one in.

Where is DeGale now? left with no belt and just lost to fringe contender at best at a show at the Copperbox that nobody was interested in anyway. I doubt anyone is going to put serious dough behind him now to try and get him a big fight, he just doesn't generate enough money, especially without a title.

The rematch would have generated more interest than the first fight and if he wins, he's world champ again, pepple would put the first loss down to rust and coming back off injury and can wait for the winner of the tournament. A DeGale unification vs the winner would have been a big fight. Now that's all gone.

Brook wasn't with Hearn at the start of his career, he started with Warren and went to Hearn because his career was going nowhere and he wasn't getting the fights he wanted. He went to Hearn in around 2011.

I watched the fight, DeGale a world champion?
He looked like an AMATEUR, flat footed, no jab, no defence,
