It might get worse soon with Saunders vs Lemieux.
Fighters are getting money skimmed off the top from all angles. Haymon is doing the same, of course, he's a business man too.
The fact is guys went with the Haymon approach because he found a way through investors to overpay fighters to lure them in, that's all. Now that gravy train is stopping, the bigger PBC events are getting less frequent and fighters aren't getting $1m to fight bums now.
There's no career guidance with Haymon and fighting on these PBC cards, they're just events to make money. It's one thing being a free agent and working with Haymon when you have as much clout as Mayweather and don't need a promoter. Guys like DeGale need career guidance for longevity, building a career and making real money. DeGale hasn't made big money really.
This is no knock on PBC or Haymon. It was cool, more boxing and some good fights got made but the business model was never going to favour fighters in the long run unless they're already very well established.Last edited by TheBigLug; 12-12-2017, 06:20 PM.

Hearn is obviously biased, and as PR experts promoters tend to have a way of saying just those things which put themselves in a positive light.
That said, as a man in the business he does have insights worth listening to. But when someone has obvious conflicts of interest in the way a thing is perceived, you have to take it with a grain of salt.
Than again, Degale is a pretty high profile athlete in the UK, so I suppose a lot of people are getting words in on it.

Not everyone robs a man of his hard earned money either.
It's not Rocket science is it? There's a reason everyone speaks highly of Haymon. He pays them well. End of.

It's becoming less frequent, that is apparent and that was my point. He paid them well to lure them away from promoters initially but in the long run they end up losing out on regular good paydays and being built properly for longevity and consistent money fights.
Fighters have since been figuring out that the grass isn't always greener and the money isn't coming in so easily anymore. That's why Jacobs jumped at the chance to work with Hearn and many other fighters trying to get on board with him. Like him or not, he builds a career for you, not just sticks you on one card a year.Last edited by TheBigLug; 12-12-2017, 07:25 PM.

It does not matter what Hearn says. Degale has been on a slide for a couple years now and getting beat up in fights. He either no longer has desire or has simply fallen out of his prime at a young age. It happens.

At this point you’re just regurgitating everything Hearn has said. It’s been 3 months and no other fighter has signed with him lol. Who are these other fighters?
