And Rigo did not help his career by just packing it in half way through the fight

    Good for his health
    Bad for legacy

He did not know what to do once he was figured out (which was basically seconds into the fight)
It took Loma 3 rounds to figure him out

Can't fight when things aren't going his way.

He folded the very first time he faced any adversity in the ring.

Lomachenko forced him into a fight and he didn't want any part of that.
Rigondeax was a 37 year old man (possibly older), who jumped up two weight classes to fight a stellar fighter.

Lomachenko is basically peaking right now; could you earnestly envision him going to 140 and fighting Terence Crawford?

Great point. One thing I have began to learn is that when slick fighters, who are known for outclassing and humiliating opponents, receive the same treatment, they fold.

He has never in his life been dominated, outboxed, or even knew that it was possible. I mean from the Am's, to the pros, he never seen anything like this. And I dont think Loma is way better or anything. Loma was just the longer, rangier, fighter. Size can make a huge difference. If they were the exact same size, Rigo may have been too fast and instinctive for Loma.

But Rigo may commit suicide after this whipping. From the ams, he never seen anything like this. Missing, getting hit accurately, being frustrated, and forced to quit. This has to be a nightmare for him.

I have to agree. The night of the fight, after Rigo quit, I called it “the bully effect.” Rigondeaux has always been better than everyone he’s faced. He’s gone down before, but obviously that didn’t make his opponents better. He was able to get up and punish the opposition. It seems clear to me now that Rigo's okay with fighting someone inferior, but not someone who’s got the edge. I believe Rigo was convinced he was better than Lomo going into the fight, but the moment contact was made, he realized he was in over his head. Before the fight Rigondeaux said of himself, “It’s one thing to call the devil’s name; it’s another thing when he appears.” How ironic, because that’s exactly what wound up happening to him.

He grew up in Cuba. Trust me, he faced adversity in the ring.

Yes. 100% agree. He could have been DQ'd well before the stoppage came. The referee ignored so much to try let a good fight unfold.

Rigondeaux looked scarily bumtastic. I don't think I've ever seen a worse case of holding. Made worse by Lomachenko making it obvious and dragging his arms free. There was no intelligence just shameless hugging repeatedly.

Also hitting on the break, pushing, dirty tactics. People say stuff about Andre Ward, but Rigondeaux took it to a whole nother level. He got completely exposed.

Rigondeaux has been a very good fighter in his time. But Lomachenko is definately elite.

Size does make a difference, but it typically starts to count later in a fight. Early on, the smaller man is usually faster and more mobile, and it takes the bigger man a few rounds to wear him down and take over.

Loma dominated Rigo from the second round on, and he didn't do it by wearing him down, he did it with with superior speed and skill.

I think Rigo's age and inactivity handicapped him more than Loma's size.
