Comments Thread For: DeGale Unsure of Career Future, To Decide After New Year

JAMES DEGALE will make a decision on his future in the New Year after his career was left hanging in the balance following a shock defeat by little-known Caleb Truax. The British super-middleweight surrendered his IBF title with a woeful performance against the American despite being 1/100 to win the fight at the Copper Box in London.

If you were 'leagues' above him you'd of beaten him with one arm behind your back in a few rounds.

You lost to the better fighter.

James DeGale is a deluded moron and Jim McDonnell has probably been blowing smoke up his arse the whole time. DeGale has that David Haye vibe going on were he decides how much work he's gonna put in on any given day. Not a lot of respectable coaches would put up with it. He doesn't have the discipline and his ego is too big. The Ingles would be a good fit I think. They'd get DeGale in top shape and they would nurture the unorthdox side to his game. He'd have to want it.

This is what you call denial and delusion.

James Degale has fell into the trap of believing his own hype, people have this idea that he is overly talented and skilled when the fact is he is neither.

He's not very talented and he's not very skilled. He has shown it time and time again, there is not a single part of his game that is overly impressive. Add the fact that his punching technique is some of the worst I have ever witnessed.

He will never, ever be an elite fighter.

Kind of like how Roy Jones did to James Toney.

Degale has had a good career.

Olympic Gold Medalist at Amateur level and World Champion at Pro level.

Was never at Pound for Pound Top 10 level but he's had successful career and has nothing to prove to any one especially any one on this site.

I hope he retires and enjoys himself.

Never warmed to J.D. but maybe he did come back too quick .H e got caught way more than usual and couldn't really get much off himself. He's a couple of good years left and who wouldn't like to see a Groves v Degale 2 (3) which would be a cert if Groves were to lose to Eubank.

Rest up still a bit to offer.

It's a shame this happened because I desperately wanted to see Eubank claim the rest of his teeth and give him a beating. He is so deluded and arrogant it's unbelievable.

Maybe they can still do it at the end of 2018 if he gets on the comeback trail.

DeGale can bounce back. If Eubank KO’s Groves expect DeGale begging Warren or Haymon to make the fight with Groves again, this way if DeGale comes with an A-game hoorah he can hype wanting Eubanks next after beating Groves
