Degale looked shot out there. I think it's time to hang them up. No way I can see him getting back to his best.

He looked terrible, but I don't necessarily think he looked shot per se. A few years ago back when he was still fighting on channel 5 you'd see it happen regularly when he'd be fighting against Eastern European Journeyman #9712 and he'd throw a few flashy punches a round and then spend the rest leaning against the ropes. He did that because he was lazy, and I don't even think he liked to acknowledge that it was a bad habit for a while. When he got into fights with the likes of Jack and Dirrell I think he did his best to change his gameplan and work harder in fights, which he managed to pull off to a degree. After coming back from the Jack fight he probably saw Truax as a step back down to his old level and prepared and trained as if he was fighting Journeyman #9713. And while Truax has lost whenever he's stepped up to that top level, he's clearly no bum either, his only losses are to elites, and he obviously came prepared to apply pressure effectively, so when Degale fell back into his old bad habits Truax was there ready to punish him for it.

tl;dr: Degale didn't prepare for Truax like he was a legit contender and paid dearly for it.
