And lest we forget, Calzaghe vs Ashira.

Calzaghe broke his hand in the third, then went to the end of the 12th one-handed (could only throw with his weaker hand), winning a points whitewash on all three cards. Calzaghe could have quit at the end of the third, but he didn't.

He fouled until the ref. took a point he tried to continue to foul .He bent below the waistline held on the blind side.Rigo did nothing and should have his purse with held .

This was quite a showcase fight with a lot of interest and he couldn't be bothered when from the second round Lom. out boxed him , out fought him (which wasn't difficult).I for one won't be watching this wasted talent .......he quit ....end of.

Lmao I would’ve been fine with Rigondeaux doing what he normally does, which is spoil and hardly throw punches — isn’t that what he did last night anyway? — but quitting simply wasn’t an option. I’m sorry, there’s no defending that. The post below echoes my sentiments.
you couldn't even be consistent with Redd's context besides Ward. Redd was saying all week that size will play a huge variable no matter how you spin it. Even Nelo had to throw bombs to move Golovkin, same reason as the durability is the advantage of the bigger guy, which is why Nelo couldn'T put JCC Jr. away, and Golovkin and he were by far Nelo's biggest adversaries. It took years from Nelo starting at 140 to be acclimated where he is now. Rigo went two divisions higher, which is what Redd had been saying.

By the fourth round, I was worried that Rigo would win at all because he wasn't doing his 1-2s, again, as he did in Rd1.

I've watched the fight a couple of times now

There's only a hand full of shots rigo landed hard and there was no wince after any of the shots

Maybe it is bust and I'm being hard on rigo but it looked a bit off

What are you even talking about? The issue isn’t the size disparity. We’re talking about Rigo pulling a quit-job here. It was completely unacceptable and intolerable. The history of boxing is littered with feats of heroism that make Rigonddaux’s act shameful to a mind-boggling degree. He wasn’t even being hit! It would make so much more sense to me if it was later revealed he was paid off. I would almost welcome that shame over this shame. What a disgrace!

He only landed 15 punches the whole damn fight. WHEN did he break his hand? complete bull**** excuse. He never winced or complained about it in between rounds the whole fight. He couldnt handle Loma's superior speed and activity. Everything Rigo threw, missed. He had an embarrassing 8% connect rate.
8 percent punches landed. Hahaha. Man NoMasChenko schooled this clown

"American Andre Ward has revealed he beat Britain’s Carl Froch in the Super Six super-middleweight final earlier this month despite breaking his left hand in two places in training.

Ward, who recorded a clear points win in Atlantic City on December 17, told ESPN: ‘Early on, the adrenaline was working. But in the sixth round, when I hit him on top of the head, I hit a wall in terms of the pain. But we got through it.

Wrestlers don't need their hands as much as boxers.

Rigo showed an injury, it's justified. To compare Marriaga, Sosa, or Walters with a 122 guy, all whom didnt have injuries... those guys didn't show any injuries and performed consistently throughout the fight. All those guys were getting tagged, yet the Loma fanboys dont want to admit that Loma was getting punked hard by Rigo's defense.

How is Rigo going to go 12 by just doing defense? A wide card for for Loma showing Rigo not throwing his left because it was already smashed?

It seemed like Rigo was being embarrassed and he couldn't handle it, so he quit.

Wouldn’t matter to me if he really did hurt his hand. Champions all throughout the history of boxing have fought through a lot worse than that. Far be it from me to demand Rigo risk his life or his long-term health, but a hand injury? Rigondeaux quit because he was about to be embarrassed and he knew it. He would’ve fought on with a hand injury versus a lesser opponent. Guaranteed.
