"American Andre Ward has revealed he beat Britain’s Carl Froch in the Super Six super-middleweight final earlier this month despite breaking his left hand in two places in training.

Ward, who recorded a clear points win in Atlantic City on December 17, told ESPN: ‘Early on, the adrenaline was working. But in the sixth round, when I hit him on top of the head, I hit a wall in terms of the pain. But we got through it.
    "
Thanks for posting this. Ward did what champions do, and have always done. Champions fight through pain and injury. Far be it from me to demand that Rigondeaux allow himself to be killed or battered into a coma, but an alleged hand injury? Please. It’s a lie to begin with, but even if it were true, it’s a garbage excuse. Rigondeaux embarrassed himself and his fans last night. Not with his fight performance — it was no big surprise to watch him get outclassed — but with that obvious quit-job. Utterly disgraceful.

By the way, you were absolutely right about the importance of the size difference. After the weigh-in, I felt much better about the disparity. I was wrong. I picked Lomo by close decision. I didn’t think it would be such a mismatch. Rigondeaux was on his way to being clowned, and possibly stopped. He couldn’t bear the thought of it. He took the bitch road right out of there.

Floyd at 24 against Hernandez, a non threat to begin with, wouldn't have to worry about ranking points...Hernandez is no p4p.

A 27 year old Ward who was already having treatment as Floyd has been his whole career since starting pro, these scenarios have nothing to do with Rigo vs Loma.

He broke the hand in-game, and Rigo was throwing the left. How is he gonna coast 12 rounds not doing anything but just dodging offensive strikes? Rigo knew by the 5th and that deduction he wouldn't be able to win. Of course the size played a huge role on the injury. If Loma was a 122 fighter capped then perhaps Rigo would've done more risk...

Same as last week when Cottos bicep tore.Dude fought 6-7 rounds with it torn and didn't quit like a b1tch. Rigo bruises his hand swinging at air and calls it w night because he had no chance to win. Hope he disappears for good

I’m disappointed in Rigo. I feel like he showed up for a paycheck. But at the same time I’m not surprised. Hes 37 and fighting up 2 weight classes.

yup...but thats the boxing world....its funny cause you will have a gang of people claiming pacs shoulder was injured and make all the excuses.....now you have a guy like cotto who supposedly was hurt and fought through it....but when he beat martinez it was "oh he fought an injured gimp".....people are all over the place with what they choose to believe

To be honest it looks like Rigo was probably paid off by Bob Arum (that's what I think now) and Ward wasn't, that's the difference. People can hate on Ward he'd do whatever it takes to win. This Rigo/Loma fight looks like it was fixed, like Rigo took the money to lose

The point is I refuse to believe Rigo is a coward, he needed the money, if that's the case we shouldn't acknowledge this fight

You’re defending Rigo’s actions because he knew he “wouldn’t be able to win”? Haha Of course! That’s why people quit, because they know they won’t win! Lmao I would’ve been fine with Rigondeaux doing what he normally does, which is spoil and hardly throw punches — isn’t that what he did last night anyway? — but quitting simply wasn’t an option. I’m sorry, there’s no defending that. The post below echoes my sentiments.
