How many legends were fighting at 135 and 140 when he was? Or even at 147 for that matter? Pacquiao is the only legend currently at 147 and Crawford has been asking for that fight for years. Arum is obviously talking about skill wise and once its all said and done im sure Crawford will have the resume to match Leonard and Hagler and possibly even exceed them, especially of he keeps clearing out divisions

Clearing out divisions is a step in the right direction. But, even still, there's no Hearns or Haglers, or Durans running around now. Not even a Benitez out there. I hate comparing people to SRL, he might be the GOAT.

You guys need to read the actual articles, and not just the headlines. Here is what Arum actually said: ”Terence Crawford has a great, great skill level, he is an extremely smart fighter, traditionally, when you look at fighters, like Ray [Leonard], [Marvin] Hagler and so on, he fits right in there with them. The difference between him [Crawford] and Lomachenko is that Lomachenko has a skillset like we have never seen before. Terence Crawford has a skillset that is equal or better, than the best fighters we have seen, but it is not as an unusual skillset as Lomachenko has.”

Right, and Crawford wont even beat Spence imo.

Thurman was getting worked over at points against diego chaves and got hurt bad with a body shot by callazo. Crawford completely dominated all the top guys he faced which is the difference between a great fighter like thurman and an elite future all time great like Crawford. Crawford would wipe the floor with thurman if they ever fought but it sounds like thurman is scared
Garcia and Porter are better than the most fighters on Craword`s resume.

Pac would do nothing for Crawford's legacy at this point. Good for the bank account, tho. I'm willing to see how Crawford's career progresses....but until then, any comparisons with the greats are completely unfounded. Arum is talking his usual BS. Add to that, I don't think Arum is prepared to risk Crawford against any of Haymon's fighters. How can you build a legacy fighting the Horns and Vargas of the boxing world? Well, good luck to Bud. His best bet is dumping Arum at this point. Then we will see how high on Bud (lol) Arum is.

The only semi-top guy Crawford ever faced was Gamboa, and it was Gamboa who dominated HIM for four rounds. The only reason Crawford came back and won was reach. That's it. He turned southpaw, put his power hand out in front, and used his huge reach advantage to hit Gamboa with monster hooks every time Gamboa had to lean in to reach the much bigger man. Gamboa does not have great defense anyway, and it was just made worse by facing a right handed puncher in southpaw stance with a huge reach advantage. If they had been the same size, Gamboa was the far more impressive boxer on the night.

But, maybe Crawford has improved since then... just saying, people say that a lot about Crawford, how he has dominated everyone, and then they ask why Kovalev and GGG and guys like that got more credit at similar points in their careers, but the truth is those guys barely ever even lost a round coming up, while Crawford got dominated for 4 in a row. That is the big difference. And that Crawford was not knocking guys out like they were until more recently, at least not as regularly. He used to fight a lot more defensive, like Rigondeaux a bit. It's only more recently that he has shown a more complete game.

I was real impressed by Crawfords win over postol i get it that he was not a special fighter but postol is a tough SOB and he walked through mattyhse and made him quit a lot of posters here including me thought it would be a competitive fight yet bud make him look ordinary and demoralized him with the sheer gap in abilty that made me sit up a bit and think hes a real elite fighter in the making
